A key game late in the season at home. Our football destiny laid out in front of us.And we SHIT THE BED. 2006-pats lose ,we are in control of our own destiny, lost 2004- new england chance at the divison.lost 2001-bills have what 2 wins all year.we lose 2000-detriot freakin lions and john hall 1997- the 1-12 colts come to town week 15.we lose 22-14.
Different jets same B.S. I agree it seems like the jets are cursed no mater who is playing for them same shit...
We didn't really have a shot at the div in '04. If we win that gam and the next week we are 12-4, if NE lost the game against us they would have been 13-3.
cant say i upset .. this is a team with no real expectations to start the season.. so were ever we get its a plus at this point.
Gater, yesterday prooved to me that we are not a playoff caliber team this year. I was lured into believing that something good was going to happen, only to be very disappointed. Come to think of it, in my earlier years I had a lot of dates that went this way, too.
It goes way back before 1997 too, this is the story of Jets history unfortunetely. Except SB3 anyway.
Why the hell some of you are acting like the sun dropped out of the sky to never return is beyond me. An awful lot of belly aching for a team that was expected to win no more than 4 games, and begining a new era with the CS. You do not build a winning franchise in a season people, you simply try to get a solid foundation set. Try to keep the perspective will ya, lol.
Although I agree with this 100% I am concerned with where we go from here playoffs or not. For someone who preaches consistency like its their job (well I guess it is) Chad has shown nothing of the sort. I really feel that he is ultimately going to prove to be a setback in any NYJ SB plans. I love nothing more than to see Chad on a good day, but I don't ever feel great going in to any game at this point. With that being said, he has played well enough for us to keep him around for a while longer. I'd love to think that there is a piece to this puzzle missing that will push Chad over the edge into greatness, but I can't convince myself he'll ever be SB ready
That is all true, but in the NFL today things change so quickly. We were supposed to win no more than 4 games, before the first game was played.Thats ancient history now. Those expectations have since been exceeded and now in a spot to possible make the playoffs. The most important thing now is to finish strong, especially with opponents that should be beaten. If the end of the season is a flop then that is not how we want to go into the offseason after being set up for a high.
This "expected 4 win" nonsense is the absolute weakest shit yet in a long history of weak shit from the defenders of mediocrity. You are what your record says you are. The best team in the NFC(not saying alot, I know) picked 2nd in the draft last year and was projected to win as many games as the Jets were.
the also added this years MVP to there team. not to mention have to feature backs one pounding defenses into submission the other running circles around defenses. saints have more talant than us. once you get past our WR's and say mangold everythig else gets questionable.
My arguement would be that New Orleans is the exception - not the rule. Can a team turn around on a dime like that? Sure, it can, but it is not the norm by any means. For our team to have a 9 win, even 10 win season is very good (good start). For a team to win as well as New Orleans has is above and beyond. You can not reasonably use them as the standard to follow, without having set expectations overly high. And don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with high expectations, but when you end up with mediocrity in the end you have to take it for what it is worth.
I agree that things do change quickly in the NFL, or at least have the opportunity to do so. Building a strong competitive franchise does not have to take years to do nowadays. With a solid FO/CS you can do that in 3 years or less. I was disappointed too by the loss, but the run isn't over by any means, although thinking 8-8 or 9-7 prediction is still about right. I know it is hard for people not to invest their hearts into the team, I have a tendency to do that as well. I am just making an effort this year not to because you tend to get less in that first year of change. Anything extra is reason to be happy, not pissed. These guys lose another games and we will have fire Mangini threads popping up left and right.
Yes, they sent a mediocre, aging QB packing and took a chance on a FA. Looks like they did their homework. McAllister is certainly better then what the Jets have but that offense is all Brees. Bush had done nothing up until the past 2 weeks. He's had WR's out all year long and he's throwing TD passes 3 weeks in a row to absolute garbage like Copper. Meanwhile Jets fans are defending Pennington and saying he gives them the "best shot to win". "Jack of all trade" teams don't win in the NFL, you've either got to have a dominant passing game, running game or defense and the Jets don't have any of them, and if they stay with Pennington we know they'll never have a dominant passing game.
u mean to tell me all dinking and dunking and 8 minute drives isnt a dominant enough passing game?
