Boston would have beaten the Isles bad. Overall a great year for the Isles. It should be an interesting offseason for the Isles in seeing what Lou can do to improve the team. For the Finals I hope the Sharks/Blues can beat the B's. After watching the Sox and Pats win I can't stomach another Boston championship.
Isles are built and have same philosophy as Bruins, only difference is offensive talent, Bruins have it, Isles don’t. When isles add couple of offensive weapons they will get into finals.
Not sure a 20-25 goal scorer is worth that, but that's the way it is. Presumably they'll go hard after Lee, which would make Eberle an unnecessary luxury. And of course they should go hard after Lehner.
I’d let Lehner walk with Eberle. Not a chance he replicates last year and the Isles should be focused on getting Sorokin over. Take that money and get a winger. Hang tight with Greiss for one more year.
He played the center position very well as the second line center, as you know, good centers are hard to find nowadays. He also played much better defensively in BT system, to get 25 goals in a defense first system ending up the year with a plus 20 rating is not bad at all, he does not have any wingers that can finish, if he did, he would probably end up with a higher assist total giving him more points. I believe that’s why Isles locked him up, they are going to get him some wingers who can finish and hopefully his point total will increase dramatically but his salary will be manageable. Lee on the other hand wants more years on his contract offer, Isles only want to go 5 years, not a good sign.
I was actually at an event with some guys who are involved and they were pretty confident its going to happen almost looked at me defiantly when I told them I will believe it when I see a shovel actually in the ground,,,I hope it happens
IMO Lee is NOT worth the money and again I get why the signed Nelson and Trotz loves him but I think Trotz can coach anyone and I would have had no problem letting either of these guys walk or trading them at last years deadline but again I get why they signed Nelson. As far as Lehner = sign the guy now I am all in on him
Menace I guess you might say that but I don't think its that we are jaded I think we are just wiser and see things for what they are.
Apparently there’s a guy on Isles HF who’s saying the project actually starts on July 18 with shovels actually in ground August. He’s been posting good info there for years(union guy?), and I could’ve sworn he was a poster here before I ever remember seeing post on HF.
July 18th comes fast and I hope it is so but we have heard stuff like this before. I will try and find out more this week as that puts us about a month away
I'm hearing that he signed for less than expected, which would be a positive statement about the Islanders (I suppose), but this is still not the move I would have made at all - he had a bad year, and 8 playoff games doesn't change that. To me this is not a guy you build a Stanley Cup contender around. It includes a 16-team no-trade clause (bad) and a buyout provision (good). It would also seem to lessen the chances of signing Lee, who I think is a much better player.
