This is amazing news for a Mac hater like myself! Should have been done long long long long ago. New Gm will have a full year now to work on 2020 draft instead of a few months if we had fired Mac in off season. Ding dong the Mac is gone. Please hire a GM who isn’t obsessed with defensive tackles now and who actually cares about protecting the QB
Adam SchefterESPN Senior Writer Jets have fired GM Mike Maccagnan and VP of Player Personnel Brian Heimerdinger, league sources told Jeff Darlington and me. Maccagnan had two years left on his contract. Jets are in position to have strong season thanks to Maccagnan and Heimerdinger.
Probably kept him because he had all the scouting information. Typically when a GM gets canned they keep the entire scouting department for the upcoming draft, so I'd imagine something similar happened here.
