Much better? Eh, depends what part of the year you’re talking about. When both Robby and Q were injured I would have taken the Cardinals weapons over ours. Even with everyone healthy it was pretty close. Not to mention David Johnson is 10x better than Crowell. Perhaps the rest of our roster was better than them outside of that but I wouldn’t say our 4 win team was much better than their 3 win team.

Just saying we keep bringing up how the season ended, but Sam had good games well before the final stretch. Colts, Broncos and even to an extent the first Dolphins game. Pryor caused one of the interceptions in that game.

The shit he talked prior and after the draft certainly didn't win him any awards, so I don't think it's a complete mischaracterization nor absolute BS. It's probably somewhere in the middle . . . in the middle of him being an a-hole, that is. ; )

As to the topic at hand, I would have liked to see him anywhere else but Miami, seeing as I didn't think there was any way that the Cheats would go after him. Not because I think he is going to set the world on fire, but the fact that Miami got a steal is damn annoying. There's also the possibility at some point that he'll pan out, which would be twice as annoying. Let's just hope he flames out for the obvious reason: Miami hatred.

I don’t know how anyone can say Rosen was in a much worse situation, they both were very bad situations for a rookie QB.

The CS for both teams was terrible, I’d call that a wash.

I’d give the Cards an edge with weapons. Larry Fitz is better than any WR on Jets, obviously he’s aging and not the same anymore but he’s especially a young QBs best friend. David Johnson is far better than any RB the Jets had and Kirk was pretty good for a rookie WR.

Both had bad OLs. I don’t know if Cards was worse or Rosen’s lack of mobility made them seem worse. Darnold’s escapability saved a lot of sacks last year.

I’ve heard some things in regards to Rosen that has made me sour on him considerably. I still think he is worth the shot for the Dolphins though but it’s not going to surprise me one bit if the Dolphins are right back in the QB market next draft in what should be a strong class and they will likely be right there in contention for one of the top picks.

I hope that Rosen plays just well enough to either mess up the Dolphins' draft position so that they have to burn a lot of picks to move up and get a QB, or well enough that they decide that they're gonna roll with him and not draft a QB and then he flops.

I think Darnold is and always has been the best of the three and best bet to have the most NFL success.

But I was hoping (pre trade) that Allen was the guy the Jets got and I'm a little taken aback by the negativity this board seems to have for him. If you were a GM picking between the two to hand the keys to your franchise to I think its fair to say Josh Allen doesn't even hold a candle to Darnold but that doesn't mean he can't be pretty darn good in his own right. Even if he never gets any better he's already orders of magnitude better than anything Buffalo has been putting out there for years and at worst is the type of guy that may not be a Super Bowl winner but is an "on any given Sunday" dangerous type. Some of those games down the stretch last year he was just destroying the opposition. I don't see how you can cause that much chaos and just be flippantly written off as a failure.

The thing too I kept coming back to him pre draft was what a great kid he seems like. I watch some of the films on youtube from last year and his team seems to absolutely love him. From a farming family background... maybe I'm old fashioned and naïve but I still think over the long grind of life things like that matter. I wouldn't be so quick to bet against him.

I think it is pretty cool that 3 out of the 4 "best QB class since '83" ended up in this division. I hope they all pan out and look forward to some great football over the next 10 years. The question who is Kelly who is Marino and who ends up being Tony Eason.

    My prediction-

Allen- Marino-Big arm- will have a good career no super bowls
Darnold- Kelly- tough will take us to the promise land but win it
Rosen- Kenny O- will be good not great

It wasn't remotely close. Sam was in a stable situation the entire year. You're right DJ is miles better than anyone on the Jets. Yet the Jets had a much better running game. The Cardinals No. 2 WR broke his foot in game 7 and was IR'd. The Cardinals starting QB, Sam Bradford was cut after 3 starts. The Cardinals OC was fired after 5 games. The Cardinals rookie HC was fired immediately after the season. The cardinals entire starting OL was on IR last year. They were starting 3 rookies at one point on the OL.

Sorry you're dead wrong. It was a complete cluster F in the desert last year.

You did get one thing right DJ is 10X better than Crowell. He was basically a 3 yard battering ram last year.

The Jets may have had a bad plan from the coaching staff but it was a plan. Rosen was essentially joining a band without sheet music and riffing.

The one thing people keep forgetting about Allen is he wasn't even supposed to start last year. The Bills as usual messed up again with the QB situation with Peterman, McCarron. Allen was supposed to sit and learn last year but they threw him to wolves and said go play. They also gutted their roster to get out of salary cap hell so they had nobody on offense (except McCoy) to help him. McCoy couldn't do anything last year behind that poor excuse of an O-Line. This year it will be interesting to see how much Allen improves. He has some experience now and a better supporting cast on offense to help him.

I stopped there. Sam Darnold was absolutely not in a stable situation all year. he joined a shitty team with a head coach on the hot seat trying to implement a new offensive system with an offensive coordinator who was always a failure.

dunno why you want to make excuses for Rosen in comparison to Darnold. he's a dolphin now, fuck him.

Rosen absolutely had it worse but saying that the situations weren’t even remotely close is not accurate. Look at some of the dog shit players Sam had to play with towards the end of the year. Granted Rosen had it for most of his rookie season, but when Sam was stuck with chicken shit he made chicken salad. Rosen couldn’t figure out the recipe.

yeah, very true. Allen is better than people think.

I've seen mixed reviews/insights on LeSean McCoy by the way. Some of the online stat gurus have him in high regard. and as just a casual, enemy watcher of the Bills, he looks alright to me. But other stat gurus had him ranked dead last in broken tackles multiple years running... which was interesting.

as far as McCoy's future, that's also mixed. Almost all the outside analysts believe the Bills will release McCoy, a June 1st cut. But then I was listening to local buffalo radio and they had multiple radio guys saying there is zero chance McCoy gets cut and the Bills see him as an important piece. So someone will be dead wrong. I usually trust the local guys when I look at other teams but I think they are wrong on this one. That Bills running back room is crowded now, its pointing hard towards a McCoy release/trade.

I'll keep going back to the same thing I always go back to when we discuss Allen here, and no one seems to be able to answer it:

At what point in Allen's collegiate and pro career has he showed a sustained level of success as a thrower? Why are we expected to believe that he's randomly going to understand the basics of being a QB?

I don't know why people here are bashing Rosen. It's pretty clear Rosen has been the victim of a whisper campaign for years. The guy kept his nose to the grindstone and took a beating. He had a bad year in a bad situation. Sam had a bad team but he was in a stable situation. He sucked but showed massive improvement.

I think Sam will be better but I also think it's wishful thinking to think Rosen is done. He may well turn out to be a terrific NFL QB.

I rooted for Ken O against Marino. I hope this time we got Marino and they got Ken. Yea I hated Marino, but I recognize he was one of the best QB in NFL history. Things will evolve. No need to bash another QB to make the argument that Sam is going to be great. Most of the bashing of Rosen is nonsense and some of it is attributed to his nose and the fact that he's an atheist in a league where many of the players and coaches are fundamental Christians and practice their religion in the locker room. I'm not amused by it.

I very much like Rosen and think he will be good, but your assessment of his situation compared to Sam's is just off.

Sam had a stable situation? In what world was last year's Jets team a "stable situation"?

Chicken salad? We went 4 and 9 with Darnold. They went 3 and 10 with Rosen. That's chicken shit not chicken salad. You're eating at the wrong deli.

Having good stats in 3 losses means nothing. Rosen actually lead a game winning drive in the snow in Green Bay. Rosen was awful last year. Sam was just bad. they both flashed. Sam flashed more no doubt and that's something to feel good about.

Named the starter in TC. Had all the reps. Had the same coaching staff for the entire year. Stable compared to what went on in AZ. It may not have been good but it was stable. Not to mention he had a professional QB mentoring him from day 1.

Sam had it better than both Rosen and Allen. Mayfield went into the best situation.

So I guess we're just going to leave out Sam's game winning drive in Buffalo against the 2nd best defense in the league? Should we just ignore that against that same Green Bay team, Sam threw for 341 yards and 3 TDs (68% completion) in a game that was lost by a kicker?

And what's not smart at all is to pin a team's record on the QB. You'd think that in 2019 we'd be past that but I guess we aren't. "Chicken salad out of chicken shit" was in reference to putting together game winning drives on the road, good games on the road against playoff teams and even better games at home while being surrounded by a bunch of WR 2's and 3's with no semblance of a running game and a clueless coaching staff.

If I'm at the wrong deli then you're driving on a road that doesn't even have one.

Sam had 1 game winning drive and Rosen had 2. Sam was better. I don't know why you think I'm bashing Sam, I'm not. I think Sam, Rosen and Allen all have a chance to be elite NFL QB's for a long time. I think Sam has shown more quicker than the other two but that doesn't mean we won't have 3 very good QB's in our division for a long time.

Why would you ignore anything? We have every right to be optimistic about Sam and should be.

I'm not bashing Sam. I'm pointing out that Rosen is still a good prospect.

The numbers say Sam was not a good QB last year. The numbers aren't important.
