Jets have a lot of young corners right now, hopefully 2 of them step up. Derrick Jones, and Parry Nickerson specifically. I think our offensive line is the worst unit.
I think people are angry/frustrated/disappointed that the team still has holes at key positions. OL, #1 WR(maybe not essential but would make our other skill players better), CB, Edge(hopefully Polite fixes this) Even if Edoga becomes the future RT or LT, an OT is needed to replace the other side. I'm not convinced that Harrison is anything more than a backup C until he shows otherwise.
I would agree with that. Would like to see more emphasis placed on the line, and I’ve got my doubts on the one we just drafted.
kap was never that good at all. he did go to the SB early with a 12-4 team but it was mostly defense and run game. he played the sanchez role. made a good play here or there and was good at not turning it over, but he was not more then a game manager with mobility
I'm in total agreement. The team still has holes & continues to prioritize defense despite it failing them since 2011 onward. But building a team on paper & thinking that filling a hole at every spot is the answer to our problems..it is not. This team has lacked homegrown top end talent that carries a franchise including the culture for far too long. A team has to have actual players worth filling spots around; thats what provides an identity & a style to shoot for. If Mac doesn't think we're out of that predicament just yet I can't say I disagree. The team has continued to need impact players regardless of the position; Dogs per Jamal Adams. Where I take issue is Mac's execution. First of all I think he sucks at swinging deals & creating more assets.Other teams find ways to acquire more draft picks by knowing how to leverage negotiations.Secondly, there has to be context to BPA...ala the OL situation as well as going DL again w. an edge sitting there. Building through the draft as he has preached IS the best thing for this franchise. Targeting pro bowl caliber FA's 26 or younger is also a very smart strategy. But when does he stop collecting talent & start building a team? 5 years seems like more than enough time even considering the reset button after 2.
It's as if you didn't watch a single playoff game. The SF D let up 89 points in 3 playoff games. With Kaep running the O they scored 104 points in 3 playoff games. In the 9 games that Smith started SF averaged 3 points less per game than the 7 games Kaep started. Kaep had a QBR of 98.3 he also had 10 TD passes and 5 TD rushes and average 6.6 per carry in 7 games. He was an absolute beast in the SF drive to the SB. The following year he lead them to a 12 and 4 record. He was virtually indefensible in 2012 and 2013 and played great. Kaep put up more points in the 2013 playoff game against Seattle than either Drew Brees or Payton Manning did. FYI they didn't get to the SB when they went 12 and 4 they lost to Seattle. They got to the SB the year before at 11 and 4 and 1 when Kaep took them 5 and 2 down the stretch after Smith went down with an injury. I know there are people who have an agenda to bash Kaep but you don't have to change the facts.
I take issue with the number of picks after round 1 that are no longer on the roster. No team can be built with only 1st round picks. Just going by BPA without considering other factors like need, system fit, impact expected from player, etc.... will lead to an unbalanced roster with holes at important positions. If our 1st round pick next year is a DL, I might just join the darkside where some here already are. OL or WR must be the pick IMO. As for FA's, out of all the pro bowl players in their mid 20's, I bet over 90% will get extended or tagged. Teams will not let young stars hit the open market. We were fortunate to pay Mosley more than what the Ravens offered and that Bell had a falling out with the Steelers because he felt he wasn't being paid what he's worth. But, we saw that a great pass rushing FA class never materialized because Edge is one of the most important positions in the game and teams know that. The best way to build the roster is through the draft, but that requires having an idea of what kind of players you want on the team. Good teams are able to find diamonds in the rough because partly they see something that makes them a fit for their team. Maybe Wesco is that for us? We can only hope.
Over the weekend I gave this some thought about what a Committee(s) would look like: Since there are so many divergent views and opinions on TGG perhaps we could get 3 Groups together: Posters who identify themselves primarily focused on improving the D ( Def Wins Champ, K'Ob and others), Improving The Offense (Contrails, Tomdeb, NC , Kurt ,myself and others) Neutral (Ralebird, Homeof Darnasty Tony FtL etc)( I hope I identified everyone correctly lol) Lets say there are 30 members total All groups submit a 2 Year Plan for Jets including a proposed list of FAs and potential draft picks fro 2020-21..BPA vs Need etc limit 4 players to a respective position Each Committee submits their recommendation and a Poll is conducted among for each position group among these selected members. If enough members vote for a particular college prospect for example 12 votes from Joe Player WR from Cal or 16 votes for Center from Iowa ..that individual with most votes is designated our Round One pick and so on to Rnds 2 and 3 >>7..Works the same way with FA we need to target For any ties ..Statjet plays Owner and is deciding vote. IMO this might be a way we are at least able to eliminate "BPA"as our Rnd 1 choice ..forever! Plus there would most definitely be an improvement in the selections we have previously endured rounds 2-7 with our present GM
More evidence how glaringly bad a talent evaluator, decision maker Mr. Gen Manager is People cry for a Center because its been a neglected , pretty important position and Macagnan is too busy making bad choices elsewhere
It doesn't matter who you have playing corner, with no pass rush to speak of, they'll just get exposed, another glaring weakness the moron of a GM hasn't successfully addressed, but we can draft DL in the top 10 all day long.
he had a good playoff run, same could be said of eli manning twice as well. doens't mean they were overall great QBs though
I'm all on board with this as long as I get to sit in the owners' box! With the Wilpons and Dolan in town I know I won't be the worst owner in NY even with the Johnsons gone!
Not sure why I have been labelled a defence loving poster??? I am sure at one point I was Robby's only supporter and I wanted to draft Barkley, think I would prefer neutral status.
agreed and then i see things like this statement that he is type a and needs things to be done his way, that shit isnt going to work in the nfl, which has already been proven in miami... smh. i hate to be so down on something so quickly but this guy wreaks of disaster.
