https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/kelechi-osemele-jets-new-guard-feeling-frisky-as-30-nears Surprised no one has posted this. Osemele weighed in regularly in the 325-330lb range while playing. His weight loss journey started last year when he played at 317. He went on a keto diet and is coming into training camp at 296, a weight he hasn't weighed since High School.
The fact that he's 6 foot 5 weighing 296lbs and is showing parts of his six pack should make you feel good. But we're Jets fans, we're supposed to look at EVERYTHING in a negative light. Duh! Lmao this fuckin fan base is amazing
We land an off-season All-Pro Guard and draft a tackle during the 3rd round out of USC who allowed 0 sacks/0 QB hits last year, but yet the same Maccagnan critics still cry about Macc "ignoring" the O-Line.
I don't think it's healthy for a football player not to eat carbs. And I'm not going to change my opinion to appease other posters.
Who gives a fuck if he's eating carbs or not lmao The guy is in amazing shape and says he has never felt better in his life. Does it really fuckin matter whether his body uses carbs or fats as energy? If he misses a block you can blame Ketosis
Apparently it matters. https://www.healthline.com/health-news/keto-diet-may-hurt-your-athletic-performance#1 And how Osemele feels now is irrelevant, what matters is how he plays this season. Anyway, could it work out? Sure, he could be a beast. But I'm not going to celebrate him losing weight (especially when he played his best while heavier) by going on a fad diet.
Im not going to get in an argument on a football board about the Keto diet, but posting an article by a freelance journalist to support your claim is ridiculous. I can surf the internet and find an article to support any bullshit claim I come up with. And calling a way of eating that originated over 80 years ago to treat epileptic seizures, a fad, proves your ignorance on the subject.
Unless Osemele secretly has epilepsy, the fact that the keto diet has been used for patients with epilepsy is irrelevant. Anyway, is this source better? https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/should-you-try-the-keto-diet I think it's pretty fair and it doesn't encourage me. It's about as negative as a medical professional can get without making claims she can't prove.
K Osemele at his best in the NFL played at 330 plus pounds in a man on man blocking scheme. ( he destroyed the man in front of him) The Raiders got rid of K Osemele because they didn't feel he fit their zone blocking scheme ( blocking scheme Gruden brought in 2018) . The Jets run the zone blocking system. Now Osemele under 300 pounds should excite Jet fans? Who knows how he's going to perform at that reduced weight. ( never played at that weight). The Jet fan thought they were getting the hulk at Lg, but did they get the incredible shrinking man. This could go two ways. The loss of weight actually makes him better fit in the zone blocking scheme. ( much faster). Or the loss of weight effects the way he plays. ( can't do what 330 pound player with power can do to defense lineman) .
Have you read the entire article you link? The headline and the beginning of the article refers to a four day study while later information in the same article state that long term effects can be beneficial to athlete without qualification. I'll go with the long term results rather than a very short term snapshot.
So has it been determined whether the guy is on a "generic" version of what is now commonly called keto or is he on the specific, medically oriented keto diet. I suspect the former so all your concerns related to this article are moot.
I know nothing about the man, but he is an All Pro in this league Does he want to threaten his performance by taking on a new diet? Does he have a trainer? An agent ? A brain? Nothing gets by this Board in terms of nitpicking stupid stuff Maybe we should celebrate if he's using PEDS? The time is counting down to TC and 4 months to Preseason...Performance is what counts Anyway, if he sucks it's all Macs fault and his Starbucks addiction ahahahahahah
Lmao I can’t even believe this board sometimes. So true. KO is gonna be awesome this season pending he is injury free. Can’t wait to watch him.
