Usually you judge teams by wins and losses. Crazy huh

Teams and coaches sure but GMs I tend to judge by the quality of players they acquire and/or pass up and by the composition of their rosters. Mac fails either metric so the distinction is moot. Crazy huh?

Wasn't Dorsey hired by the Browns in December 2017? I don't think you can hold that season against him as it was Brown and others who built that team.

Burn it down year one, load up year two, contend year three.

Yes, Dorsey was hired December 8, 2017. At worst he's gone 7-12-1 with the Browns (7-24-1 is completely not true), but if I'm being fair he's gone 7-8-1.

I do think you are crazy to not judge GMs by wins and losses, yup

Solid plan, but the contending part is the most difficult and it hasn’t even happened yet

Correct, but I’ve seen some saying they expect the Browns to win the division.

Not so with the Jets in year 5.

If you're going to judge GMs by wins and losses, you have to report the right win-loss record.

No, it's only because some posters love to use straw man arguments when they have nothing else.

Not at all, just correcting one of the reasons that you continue to use to hammer Mac for.
If I sound like a family member, what do you sound like? A bitter neighbour that found out Mac has dipped his wife for months?

Lol fans are clueless. Talk up Cleveland and their GM in order to talk down Maccagnan.

You're kidding, right? Unless it was a committee of one there would be blood in the streets and guys in jail.

The trouble with that is, Dorsey never had to burn it down to begin with, he walked into an ideal situation, the rebuild already begun and lovely high draft picks to use.
So to crown him for a quick turnaround is a little false.

Exactly. He was GM of the Chiefs 2013 through 2016, 43 wins in 4 years. Before that he ran the scouting department for the Packers from 2000-2012 I think they won over a 130 games during that period.

He had almost nothing to do with the Browns turnaround unless you ignore the players he brought in during the offseason last year and his willingness to fire the HC early enough to help the turnaround. He arguably brought in more talent on both sides of the ball this year in FA and the draft than Mac did.

He walked in to a situation where a team had 0-16 level talent and coaching. Arguably, they might have made the playoffs last year if they’d started Mayfield from the jump. We’ll never know, but if you asked around the league which team was on the better trajectory, you would probably be disappointed with the answer.

You got to give Dorsey some credit for now at least. They drafted the right Qb (although I think Darnold would be equally fine), traded for the most talented Wr in the NFL in Beckham. Signed Kareem Hunt and drafted Nick Chubb in rd. 2, traded for Landry who is better than any wr on the Jets roster. Drafted Denzel Ward, who wasn’t a popular pick at the time, drafted Myles Garrett. Drafted Bitonio, Avery and they signed Sheldon Richardson.

How that all shakes down as far as wins and losses, who knows...

He's been there less than year and a half (hired in Dec 2017) and now the Browns are serious contenders for their Division. Mac is working on 5 years and made some hot seat moves for us lately
