Vince Young, unlike RG3 who was terrific as a rookie, sucked as rookie QB. He was 30 in QBR and 32nd in completion percentage. He had 550 yards and 7TD rushing that year. He was effective but not a good QB. Marques Colston to me should have run away with the award in 2006. Nobody knew who he was. Drafted in the 7th round and had a 1000 yard pass catching season.
Oh puhleeze! Talk about straw man arguments! While skipping over Mahomes when they needed a QB!!!! was egregious and a fireable offense by itlself, Macc has made plenty of other blunders, enough that most GMs with his record and not making the playoffs for 5 years would in fact be enough to fire him, but your hyperbole doesn't change the facts. Mahomes was a major miss. What I don't get is why you and others continue to see this as "whining about Mahomes", which it isn't, it's whining about Macc's abilities as a GM, with Mahomes being Exhibit A. Why is that so difficult to understand? I think it's because you don't want to understand, you want to dismiss this very real criticism of a guy you like by saying "It's in the past; It doesn't matter". News Flash: Last I checked Macc was still the GM, NOW, in the present, so no, it's not in the past. As to how Mahomes would've done in 2017, first, you know Bowles would never have started him, but if he did, I'm sure Patrick would've made a lot of mistakes like rookies always do, but he would've learned. And you can say you're happy with Sam - I am - but it was pure luck, not planning, that had Darnold fall to #3. I give Macc some credit for being aggressive to trade up to #3, but there is no way he knew Darnold would be there for him. Moreover, was it "aggressive" or desperate to make up for the colossal miss of Mahomes? I'm sure we'll never know.
the niners did that for kaepernick so i have to disagree there that speaks more about how bad the jets QBs have been then it does how good smith was. FWIW if chad never got injured he likely would have been as good as if not better then smith. they were very similar players. also fi we never gave chad that contract we would have had brees. the jets are just cursed when it comes to QBs lol
i just looked at young and you are quite a bit off. while his QB numbers were bad he had the lamaar jackson thing going where his legs won them a lot of games. but i agree colston should have won it. with that said i hated colston for a ton of reasons. 1st off how did the jets miss him, he played at hofstra where the jets practiced. like WTF 2ndly yahoo listed him at TE/WR so in fantasy everyone who picked up colston week 1 had a major advantage at the TE spot. he was the reason most people won their leagues. he was putting up double to triple the amount of points of any other TE
Ok if that's your exhibit A, I just find it a weak argument. If we were still sitting on our thumbs waiting for a QB, I might agree more. Or if we settled for a bum like Rosen, again I'd agree, but that's not the case. It does seem like an awful lot of complaining for what's been an excellent couple of offseasons by the GM. We are up to 35 pages on a thread that was created based off hearsay by hacks.
Well this is why I don't bother engaging with you very often. Explain why it's a "weak argument" - just because you say so? As to the other "exhibits", they've been laid out exhaustively by myself and others and I'm not going to bother rehashing them to make your job easier. Really, it's fine if you just want to say "I don't agree with you and I don't want to discuss it any more".
So throwing a bunch of money at 2 of the easiest position to fill with the least amount of investment is excellent to you? I’m curious to know how many wins you expect this excellent off season to yield. It’s just weird to me how Macc homers will praise Macc for his off season then turnaround and project 7-9 wins. That doesn’t add up to me.
I think we're going to have around$50 -55. mil We have over $25 mill still available this year ,most will carry over barring any trade and about $30 available next year.
Maybe. A #1 WR would be great. No argument there. Maybe the kid from USC works out at tackle. A year in an NFL strength and conditioning program may be what he needs and hopefully one of the young corners pays off. It would be nice to go into a draft without glaring needs. Of course there will be a DT who is rated best player and Mac just won't be able to resist.
I hope he can play LT in the NFL, but I'm not banking on it. RT wouldn't be the end of the world though as the right side is becoming just as important to block with many pass rushers lined up there. Yes, I have to study DT prospects to see which will be the BPA when we pick in the teens next year.
Hopefully Little or Jeudy are when we're on the clock. Tackle looks deep next year. Little,Thomas, Trey Smith and Trey Adams all look good
