This kid has to start getting the majority of the carries, atleast 50%. Every time he would get a good run, mangini pulls him for awhile. He has 7 carries for 55 yds (7.9 ypc) and once again lead the team in rushing with far less carries than houston. Houston on 18 carries had 50 yds (2.8 ypc). Now I'm not saying I don't like houston, I love this combo, but houston should not be getting the majority of the carries. Both leon and cedric should really have an equal amount, or a little edge towards leon. Leon continously proves he can do it, but never gets enough carries. In the 2 games where he did get a good amount of carries, he ran for over 100 yds.
We had a good thing going with both him and Houston going today for the majority of the first half. I was satisfied with that.
What wha had happen man? An average game by Cedric and a good game by Leon and now he should be getting a majority of the carries? He's a 3rd down/change of pace back and he had good runs today. He was used correctly today to be honest.
Yeah it was really a combination of poor playcalling today and simply making too many mistakes and then being forced to throw. I'm super pissed about this game today but maybe this was the wakeup call this team needed. All I know is if we play another game like this we can forget about the p word.
cedric houston is garbage. he had a solid game last week. the week before he sucked. and now he sucked again. start leon washington and bring in barlow on 3rd and short situations. washington had 2 20+ carry-games this season and both times he rushed for over 100 yds.
Umm...no. Leon should get atleast 50% of the carries (probably more, would love to see him get 20+), but bringing barlow back would be purely idiotic. Houston>Barlow
thats your opinion. i say start him, give him 20 plus carries. get rid of cedric and bring in barlow as a short yardage back.
why did we keep going back to the pass when running between the tackles was working so effectively? Cedric Houston and Leon W. were gashing through the Bills D on every carry. every time pennington dropped back he was sacked or hurried.
They are both just keeping the seat warm for our next franchise RB, there is a reason that Leon is not getting the majority of the carries and it is probably cause Mangini doesn't believe he could carry the load. RB is a major need for the offseason..
RobA, can you please quit it with your ridiculous man crush for Washington? I don't know exactly how many carries he had tonight, but it had to be close to 10 and I don't see how you can have a problem with that...
To me Cedric is just average, an overachiever if you will. He doesn't suck, for a 6th round pick, he's given the Jets mucho value. But we all know he isn't the long-term answer, I'd like a Michael Bush or Marshawn Lynch, but I don't think the Jets have the luxury of drafting a RB in the 1st round with the problems at OLB, and DE, and Mangini being a defensive guy, I think he goes defense... Now, with our two 2nd rounders, RB could be a good possibility.
1. I do like Leon a bit more than Houston. This is mainly bc of the bs belief he's too small to be a feature back, which is just quite hilarious considering Warrick Dunn and Maurice Jones-Drew, who will be a feature back one day. 2. Houston had a poor game mainly bc he got NO holes whatsoever. When he got even a bit of daylight he toughed his way for extra yards all over the place. He's a downhill runner.
Dont worry Rob..i'm sure there will be a Michael Bush or a Kenny Irons for you to lobby to the HOF next season
That's what he should get though man, maybe 10 carries. But that's what Leon is to me, a change of pace speed back. And he showed that today, he was used correctly to me.
I could definately be proven wrong, but from where I'm sitting Washington isn't an every down back. He's small and when defenses see him down after down they start anticipating his cutbacks and closing the seams, because he can't really go hard up the middle. He could be a huge, huge asset to the Jets if Houston becomes more of a #1 back or if we bring in a real #1 guy, though.
