I could look them all up I guess. You could too. The seven I found were: SBNation NFL.com SI.com USAToday BleacherReport YahooSports SportingNews I was interested in how unbiased professionals graded the draft for the Jets, not the other teams.
The one thing none of us can take away from MAC is despite all of his faults & shortcomings this team is a season away from having a pretty stacked YOUNG roster. Should it be further along?Yes.Should divisional opponents be alil farther in the rear view?Absolutely. But bottom line is things are stock up in a big way over the next 2-3 seasons.NOT 2-3 seasons to get things right.NOT once we find our QB.NOT once we’re out of cap hell. We go into next offseason w good depth at every position and a few clear holes to fill/upgrades to make which we’ll have 100 mill in cap to address along w a full plethora of draft picks. Its been painful & at some points misguided..but its hard to deny as long as Sam/Adams/Maye/Herndon keep developing we’re in as good of shape as weve been in a very long time.
Seems like we are always at least 1 season away under Mac. Also, not sure how you can include Maye in the young stacked list; the kid rarely plays
Well if you look at the post I made a few pages back you'll see where I listed three websites - not team websites - and their ratings, all of which show that the Jets were behind the other three teams. That's not to say that ALL rating services would have that conclusion, only that contrary to some people here who believe the Jets had a GREAT draft, that's not universally the consensus.
A consensus of B on seven national websites represents a pretty solid draft. I used what I could find on Sunday night from what should be unbiased sources and kept away from team related or hometown newspapers. I really haven't seen much here in the way of people saying the Jets had a "great" draft but I've seen plenty who insist it sucked. How the Jets fared against the other AFC East teams is best left to be determined in eight or nine months.
When I watch that video all I can think of is what would Sam do with that same level of talent... 60-70 td’s I bet.
That depends on whether those websites have a C average or a B average. Regardless, draft grades are useless anyway.
Look 'em up if you want to. I've already stated the true grades come in at the end of the season. The purpose of my little exercise was to add a little unbiased perspective to those here claiming the Jets draft was a disaster.
That was a joke as I can’t keep talking about a guy who first off is not our Qb and secondly is surrounded by talent that we Jets fans have never seen. Sadly, given our current regime, I don’t see that changing any time soon either...
Of course, all of these are opinions, including here, but quite a few posters here have expressed the opinion that Macc nailed it. But as Biggs pointed out, and I concurred along with a few others. when you look at the AFC-E teams that all did better according to unbiased sources. What that means is, while the Jets may have improved, the other teams improved more. That said, it's certainly not just about predicted performance of new players, it's coaching, and perhaps most important is team chemistry - how everyone plays together. You can have the best collection of talent on paper, but if they don't work well together they won't win. So hopefully the Jets team chemistry and coaching are much improved, and better than the other teams. We won't be able to know that until they play the actual games.
I think I said that in the post but I guess others are allowed to express their approval as they so desire or those still sat on the fence.
Yeah, but we won't hold you to it now. I think those picks should be held until camp opens and the few trades and FA signings have taken place.
I would hope at least 9 wins given the additions, new CS, and weaker schedule with less travel. I would consider it a bad season with less than 9 wins at this point.
In all honesty, Morton looked no better until Bates came along and proved that to be untrue but in reality Morton's play calling was poor, even more so when he retreated into his shell and tried to defend a lead, unless of course, this was Bowles taking over or demanding a change to the tactics keep the lead? We won 5 games and really it could and should have been 8 but that is troubling my memory banks now lol
