I agree but I think the off field issues made taking Smith a little easier over him. Don't get me wrong, DGB is a freak and I wanted him also, but his weed problem could pose as a real issue in the future. He could end up like that bozo from Cleveland. I really like Smith though. He is fast as hell and should help our receivers a lot
He has 100x more talent than Britt, but I get where you're coming from. In the end, it doesn't matter how much talent they have if they don't see the field because they can't learn the offense or are suspended/in the coach's doghouse.
I don't really have a letter grade, but I'm impressed. Williams is a great player, and to help with the notion that it gives us flexibility to trade mo, he just makes us a deeper more complete team. I love the way devin smith attacks the ball. mauldin is my favorite pick. probably isn't gonna get you 15 sacks a year, but could develop into a great edge setter and all around good linebacker. Petty is my dude. if we can afford to give him time to develop I think we have a guy who can be an average to above average caliber qb. I get round 5. superior talentsand great value. we shall see. ditto with round 7. I think this draft is long on talent and potential and short on immediate dividends. just my opion. prolly wrong
A lot of people were wrong about this draft. Of the 6 selections only 1 is still on the team (Leo) and he's still unproven going into his 5th year. Another 4 selections are out of the NFL and the last one is a backup elsewhere.
It isn't people being wrong that strikes me, it's how some of the people viciously attacked anyone who said anything bad about the draft. There's a lesson to be learned there, I think.
I agree...the lesson is that Mac sucks at drafting. The "rebuild" will never finish if its based solely on round 1 picks.
I consider Williams a big busto. All the rest of the players are either gone or average to below average. If U mavins consider this a A draft I think you are thinking with your hearts & not your heads
IDK about that. he wanted kevin white (huge bust) over leo not to mention wlkerson has never been the same since so leo is an upgrade over wilkerson and white would have been an awful pick. he nailed the devin smith one for sure. mouldin was a fair grade he fizzled out due to injures which is hard to predict sometimes. he nailed the rest as well except for giving up the 7th for zac stacy who IIRC never even made the team. bu yeah overall a pretty damn good assesment
@Kris15 We were both wrong, but you were more right than me. At least Harold is still in the NFL. Mauldin isn't.
Well, at least I didn't give it an A. I'd still give a B+ for Leon, but he rest of the draft was an F, so my overall grade would be a C-
I still hold that 2015 was just a weak draft. 2015 draftees have been in the league 3 full years, and they have 18 Pro Bowls 2016 draftees have 2 years, and have 19 (21 if you count UDFAs) 2017 draftees have been in the league a whopping 1 year, and they already have 15. Going the other way: 2014 draftees have 4 years, and have 27(33 with UDFAs) 2013 draftees have 5 years, 29 (35 with UDFAs) Pro Bowls don't mean much, but I don't have a ready source that sorts All-Pros by draft year.... Still, just look at who all was drafted in 2015 vs those other years, it's a very weak class.
