kinda hard to win games when you average 0.5 goals/game

Just have to win one game at a time this was a horrific loss. All the missed opportunities = Leo / Mayfield and then we hit iron 3 times maybe 4.Games like these make me 2nd guess the trade deadline ( BIG TIME ) as this team has absolutely no one who can finish. We are still in this we just have to win 1 game at a time but some of these invisible players that I HATE ( see Nelson and Bailey ) who looked like crap today not to mention Lee and the rest have to play better. Just a shame that this team can't score goals but its old news and all been said, time for guys to put up or we go home and IF that happens then players that some thought would be here next year won't be resigned and will hopefully be goners. Series is far from over a lot of hockey left.

Frustrating loss today for the Isles. This Canes team never goes away. And always seems to get better late in the 2nd and the 3rd period. 4 games in a row they have played like this. Injuries don't seem to bother them either. They are MUCH better at home than away too. The Islanders have an uphill battle down 0-2 with 3 games left potentially in Carolina. Having said that, this year's NHL playoffs have been crazy, so you never know.

It’s over, second round exit is nothing to be ashamed of, Lou has a good idea of what changes he needs to make on offense this off-season.

I disagree. We go through bouts where we don’t score, and that’s the only reason the Canes are up 2-0. All season we have rebounded from these droughts and no reason to believe we can’t here.

In 2014 I believed if the Sharks didn’t sweep the Kings, they would come back and win the series. I feel similarly here, not that we could come back from 3-0 but the Canes better win the next one and go up 3-0; if we get it back to 2-1 we will win the series.

Caps led the Canes 2-0. They are watching this series from home. You never know. Losing at home is a little more of a worry and like I said, Carolina is great at home. Their fans are amazing. Game 3 will be huge. If the Islanders can find a way to win, we will have a series. If not, then not.

My other concern is the Hurricanes did not play great today and still won. They can play much better and likely will in Carolina. The Isles need to up their game.

Menace , still lots of hockey to be played, you have to win or lose 4 games we are only at 2. Islanders are NOT getting blown out so I disagree as they are in each game. IF they lose the next game it won't be good but its 1 game at a time now and should they win the next game EVERYONES outlook changes = it aint over yet

I understand supporting the team and I do, however the Canes eliminated the caps who have Backstrom and the best offensive player in the NHL, the Isles have had more than enough opportunities to put these games away, those chances don’t continue to come up in playoff games.

The teams that move on are the ones who capitalize on their chances, the Isles have not and I don’t see them just turning everything around in the next couple of games.

I picked Carolina in 5 before the series started, I still believe that.

Menace, you know how critical I have been of this team. I have talked about the trade deadline and lack of finishers and how I hate Bailey and Nelson and I don't think we should resign Lee -------BUT -----------> I think the team will begin to score goals, call me nuts. The opportunities have been there and I think its just a matter of time. I believe the Islanders also have out played Carolina much of the time so again if we were not competitive or not in the games I would agree with you. I think we can get back into this series and even win it but it all begins with game 3 as they must win one at a time. Heads up Islander fans it aint over just yet. We will see how this plays out and I can't wait for game 3 ps the long break until Wednesday might be a good thing.

These guys really are a bunch of jerks! That includes you, @Section 336! :D:cool:

You are right, @Red Menace. Everything you said is true and logical. I am just saying that most of this playoffs has NOT been logical so far, so you just never know.

Truly do not think so. You need to win both in Carolina to really have a chance.
If Canes get back to NY 3-1 the Isles are not winning.
Not saying they cannot win both but it will be a tall order the way the Canes can feed off the home crowd.
Expect Svechnikov to back soon probably on Wednesday along with Ferland.
The injury to TVR is not devasting Hayden Fleury can step in without much drop off.

I really think a lot of people look at Canes record and fail to realize how good they have been since January 1.
One of the best teams in the league.

I think if we win game 3 we will get game 4 as well. I tend to be pretty realistic about my teams in series and my gut doesn’t tell me we are done or the odds are insurmountable.

You want something daring-----> out on a limb , We did not win either of the first 2 games but could have easily won both--> we are down 2 love and yes the Canes are a very good team but I believe we have out played them in both games and its only a matter of time before the opportunities stop hitting iron and being missed and instead start finding the back of the net . We have not lost 3 in a row all year and it aint happening now as our guys play a pretty good system and have the best coach on the planet and I just bought tix for game 5. The Islanders in 6 = quote me ridicule me if I am wrong. Help me out Blue and call for baseball practices on Wed, Friday and Sunday.

If the Isles offense shows up ( a big If) I honestly think they win in 6. With the exception of the 1st minute of the 3rd P of game 2 the Canes didn't really have any quality chances. Give them credit they did capitalize and are now up 2-0. I think what most likely is going to happen is they split in Carolina and the Isles take game 5. That makes it 3-2 Canes heading into game 6. What happens in that one who knows but if the Isles get it to game 7 that would be fun. If I am the Isles I bring the physical play and hit everything in a red jersey every chance they can. Don't let them get healthy and just keep wearing them down. LGI

Hitting a red jersey probably will not work. The Canes wore black at home in round 1 and unless something has changed that is the jersey for the duration of the home playoff games.
