How can you possibly call me a homer? Do yourself a favor and stop embarrassing yourself with such nonsense. I have been quite pleased with the first three picks this year, that hardly negates my positions here over the years. Separate your not liking a guy you never met from not liking some of the moves he has made. Take the blinders off and look at these picks objectively rather than as something else to slam MacCagnan for because you can't legitimately support that even if you'd like to.

I guess you've met these draft picks? I can state that I have interviewed a Jets draft pick at one time. I was in between semesters as a journalism/communication major and decided to call the Jets Hofstra site and asked could I interview a player. He called me back (collect) and I talked to him for about 15 minutes. I'm passed this draft and waiting on training camp. Maybe you should try Titans homer.

I've stated let Greg Williams get it cooking in training camp and see how they play. But this is New York and fans critique from the beginning. Maybe you should take a look at the Giants fans react to their first round pick. So if you want a church setting maybe you should learn to root for another team. I'm not holier than thou homer like you. The Jets recent drafts have been awful and I can have a built-in skepticism because of those recent horrible drafts. Many others are the same way on this board and some other boards.

Is it wrong that I’m getting more excited about Polite then Williams? If he can get his head straight he could be the steal of the draft and what we’ve all been waiting for for 10+ years.

Imagine a Jets defense that can...*gasp*...get to the quarterback?

Met the draft picks? What the hell are you talking about? You interviewed a draft pick back in the Hofstra days? Is there some relevance to that? I had a few beers with a Jets Super Bowl winner, which means absolutely nothing regarding this draft. "Titans homer?" Again, what the hell are you talking about? You seem as confused here as you did when you asked if I was replying to you when your post was attached to my post. Sheesh!

This is at least the third time you have called me a homer, which is totally ridiculous based on my history of posting here. Are you basing that solely on my support of the first three picks this year which have been widely lauded by football professionals? Or is it simply that anyone who doesn't share your dislike of MacCagnan and any move he makes must be a homer?

Why should anyone here need to look to Giants fans for anything? There is no relevance. Why are you taking about church? What's the relevance there? The only draft I have commented on is this week's - it's the only one that matters today, not last year's, not the year before, not 1988 and not 1965. All that water will never flow back upriver.

I think I’m more excited about Polite as well just because of postitional impact. I’ve probably watched his highlight reel 5 times today. He explodes off the screen on every play.

Its all relevant. Can't help you if you can't see that. I don't like the Giants but they have been way more successful than us. We should strive for even 1/10 of what they have accomplished. Your a homer because you cannot defend the Jets picks that you like so much but you think they are great already when Jets old history, recent history, and Maccagnan history says be leary.

I guess your comprehension is the problem. You're the one that mentions that you go back to the Jets Titans years. Nobody else has ever stated that since I've been on the board. I just agreed with you homer. Which part did you not understand? HOMER=Being blindly devoted to your favorite sports team whether they are good or not.

Blindly devoted? You got the wrong guy. Unquestionably supportive? Also not me. You can look up my record here but it looks like you'd rather create your own reality. I have no comprehension problem but I still have no idea what you're getting at other than you do not like MacCagnan and therefore must bash everything he does, even when he gets three highly regarded players in the first three rounds, all of whom play in positions where the team has great needs.

Again, what the Giants and their fans do is of no concern to me; ditto for Buffalo, New England or Kansas City. Need I go on?

Tell you what, Boo - since you are so inclined to just create any argument you feel inspired to out of thin air and expect me to disagree, why don't I just leave you to your own devices? Just make a claim then come back ten minutes later and argue with yourself. I'll save my dialogue for those with something to say who also will pay attention to the actual replies, not what they want the replies to be.

If you look for the substance behind the idea that he does not have his head on straight you can't find it. The guy has a lousy agent who did a terrible job of prepping him for the combine both on the field and in the interview process. There is no indication he is a criminal, druggie or problem child. There is plenty of evidence that he is one helluva pass rusher. There is also the fact that he went to the same high school as Leonard Williams and I would expect Williams to help guide him to success.

Sorry, but if you need an agent to tell you how to prepare for a job interview you're simply not ready for the job. From the reports I read of how he acted, he's got a SERIOUS attitude and victimhood mentality and I don't think you can really change that overnight or in a couple of months. Maybe he'll surprise me and I hope he does, but he has a big red flag attached to him.

We can disagree; from what I've seen he had no idea teams would be playing tapes of plays he screwed up on and looking for explanations. Apparently that's pretty normal and most agents get their guys ready; he was blind-sided when put in the hot seat. That could be unsettling for just about anyone, particularly a young guy who never had nor expected such an experience. Having L. Williams at the Jets probably makes it the best place in the NFL for a guy who is so naïve. He certainly appears to have the football talent that match the needs of the Jets.

It’s interesting, between him, Edoga, and the cb taken there’s a lot to be worried about. All 3 are boom or bust picks, and that’s half of our draft. The CB has a bad injury history and may never even play, Edoga apparently has motivational issues(per Walter football), and Polite’s issues are well documented.

I guess they really trust the CS to coach these guys up. Time will tell.

19.5 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks his last year in college..After having 2 sacks and 5 tackles for a loss the previous year...Thats a hell of a jump!!This guy could end up being a monster...

I too am excited about what Polite brings to the defense. I just hope his character issues don't stop him from reaching his potential in the NFL.

We can only hope that he is sincere and truly learned from his mistakes. I hope so for his sake, but also for ours. We could sure use him.

These "issues" keep coming up here but all I can find to describe them is a guy who was unprepared for the grilling he got during the interview process and lost his cool. No indication he came in drunk or high, knocked anyone out or even dropped a handful of F-bombs. No obvious trouble with the law, baby mommas or any school officials. An interview posted elsewhere on this site shows a guy with a lot of humility who's interested in being the best football player he can be and he has a great head start.

Are there other issues I've missed? There was an unsupported claim that his Florida coaches did not rate him well - anybody have anything of substance there?

If you're talking about Polite, he will play OLB, not DE in a 3-4 alignment. So he'll bump one of Jenkins or Copeland to the bench.
