Should've stayed pat and drafted Love. Never had a strong feeling on Mac one way or the other, but some of the moves he's making today are mystifying. Good players available at positions of need, yet he keeps trading down. Seriously, a blocking TE presents more value than a quality player at a position of need?
Detroit had the best blocking TE in 2018 and ranked 23rd in rushing. Back in the 80’s having the top blocking TE was something to get excited about.
As a confirmed Macc Hater I have to be honest and say this may be a good pick. They need OL help and this guy is essentially a T in TE clothing from the reports.
It'll be nice to have a blocking TE that's not just strictly that... seems to have decent hands, also.
Furthermore a blocking TE can be picked up in RFA after the draft. We should have stayed and took Love, he’s going to be a starting caliber CB. This TE is not gonna see the field all that much. have to question Mac as his flaws are masked in rd. 1 but as the draft unfolds it becomes apparent he lacks vision.
Yeah I would have gone CB with that pick it’s more of a priority . But Wesco does have potential at least .....
From Waszak Jr: "TEs now on roster: Herndon, Tomlinson, Brown, Leggett, Sterling and Wesco." Granted, this means we can cut the likes of Tomlinson, but I feel like staying where we were and taking a CB, G or C would've been the better move. People are calling Wesco "BabyGronk", which is nice, but this seems a bit silly. There are a number of other positions where we need starters, and we're getting a *backup* TE. Sheesh. If your backup TE is a difference maker on your team, you've got a bunch of guys ahead of him who aren't making enough of a difference on their own.
I would get rid of Tomlinson & Leggett tbh. Not sure what the Jets social media account is thinking here - https://www.instagram.com/p/BwxG5mTHpvS/ He is not a pass-catching TE by any means!
