Not that i'm down on this pick, but you could probably find a better highlight than that. He took like 12 terrible angles on that play before he caught the guy 20 yards downfield. That was very keystone kops.
I think the point was to show the speed and the hustle. what he was flagged for. I don't hunt for these highlites. if they show up on my timeline I share them.
I agree....Polite shoulda given up on the play like all top pass rushers. Who does he think he is running 20 yards down field to make the tackle? Sheldon Richardson? hahaha
Polite talks about his combine missteps at his pro day. Fast forward to 3:00 for when he really starts discussing specifics, and he keeps going for a few minutes about it. At the very least he very clearly understands the mistakes he made, and accepts that they were legitimate grievances from the teams. "Whoever takes the chance after my terrible interviews at the combine, they're going to get a great player."
The value for this pick is insane. I'm not big on workouts in shorts, I could careless about what he did in Indy. If you watched any Florida games/tape from 2018, you HAVE to be excited for this pick. Polite is a natural pass rusher that the Jets haven't had since Abraham, the QB pursuit, the bend on the edge, this is a steal. Especially at 68, I'm ecstatic. Keep in mind that Gregg Williams is going to get in this guy's face and make him work. He is going to be asked to do 1 thing, pin your ears back and hunt. On paper, the push in the middle should be substantial; having a competent edge with 1 responsibility is dangerous.
Could be a steal, could be a bust. Obviously his character has raised some eyebrows. He doesn't have legal issues; no beating kids or girlfriends, or murdering his fiance's brother-in-law or anything like that. Just that he's come across as thin skinned, whiny, prone to make excuses for poor performance, and there's questions about his work ethic. Hopefully, all that is either overblown or will get ironed out, because seeing his tape, he's obviously got a lot of talent. At any rate, I like the pick.
It's not a great play, and he acknowledged that he was responsible for not getting the TFL. That said, it's great to see a player not give up after he screwed the pooch on a play, and then catch the guy 20 yards down the field. I don't see 4.84 speed on that clip.
Anyone know if he had a credible agent to prep him for the draft process? This might just be a case of him having hired the wrong guy. That would be a lot better look then him having a quality agent who was trying to get a horse to drink water. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
His agent is Jon Perzley from Hackensack. Credible agent with 40 clients including David Johnson. It seems like he just wasn't ready. He got short/terse in his responses when he felt like they were attacking him - just handled it all wrong. Then he quit drills with an injury that scouts thought was BS. Wasn't a good look.
Thank you. Definitely not a good look. Here's to hoping he learned from the process and is ready to become a pro because those highlights are incredible. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Polite is the perfect low-risk, high-reward 3rd Round pick for the Jets. He was on my list of players I wanted until the combine. As someone said, he could be the anti-Gholston though.
Surprised this gets passed over as simply a "Fun Fact." L. Williams surely knows this guy and could certainly be the "big brother" Polite may need to stay on track. The more I learn about the guy, the more I like the pick.
