This is what BPA looks like in practice. Macc will NEVER deviate from this methodology. As long as Macc is GM, this is what draft day will look like.
Well , Q Williams is now a Jets and I am resigned to this fact (sigh) ...let's see soft if spoken Macnuts prediction he is great after bullying SEC competition pans out Lenny W the last great DL BPA had the PAC 10 which you might argue is on a slightly less difficult team schedule Trying hard to rationalize but if Williams bulls his way to Brady(??????) then it's a sigh of relief Mac says "he's a young player" so many he gets stronger than A Donald one day...who knows .. Mac gets another chance today and weekend but so far...feh..feh ..feh
Pick your battles man, I have heard nothing but good things about this guy. He is considered the best player in a top class for defensive linemen. I was more mad about Mac failing to address the needs in free agency. Imagine we got a Justin Houston to blitz behind our current defensive line? It would be scary good. We now have a home run threat on offense in Bell and we're building a strong foundation on defense that had since deteriorated (we were 26th in defense last year). I doubt we can be any worse at least!
i'm not happy with the pick as a fan, but come on he was the BPA and mac hasn't missed on a 1st rounder yet so lets give it a chance. you want to go back to GMs like idzik? Look at gettleman and his terrible drafts he destroyed the giants in 2 seasons. just becuase we didn't get the position we wanted as fans for 1 pick doesn't mean we need to burn mac at the stake
DT's are not game changers and the Jets need those on defense. They got some of that on offense with Bell. I would never take a DT in the top 20 of the first round. The Jets take them every year and where has that gotten us? We heard nothing but good things about Gholston, Coples, Wilkerson, Milliner. This isn't a popularity contest you want warriors on your team instead we are building a choir.
Not in the passing game. Not getting after the QB. The Jets haven't had a stud DT in years. They had one in Harrison and he was 40 pounds heavier than Williams. They let him walk and he went to the Giants. But he was not a pass rusher but did the dirty work and took on blockers. You usually don't take those types in the first round and especially not in the top 5. Dexter Lawrence would have been a better pick and he went later in the draft.
Actually a funny idea. Imagine some random fans called a press conference to trash Mac and the front office. That would be hilarious.
Nah, I can't agree with ya on this one @Brook! I would have been happy with Josh Allen, but Q was the right pick. He is a better prospect than Leonard Williams was when he came out. The two of them together are going to cause massive problems for opposing offenses. Let this one play out a little longer. He was BPA and Gregg Williams is going to kick ass on defense this year. Quinnen, Leo, Henry on the line Mosley, Williamson, Jenkins LB core Jamal and Marcus in the middle. Our secondary isn't elite by any means, but the front 7 is as good as it has been in a long f'ing time.
As badly as I wanted Allen, I understand the pick. I know we are all sick of Dline picks, but that doesn't matter because most of them are from a prior regime and none of those guys are still on the team. Plus Leonard won't have to play so much on the inside and take double teams now. I predict a big year for him. If this kid turns out to be even half as good as Aaron Donald it will be well worth it.
Don't you want a lineman like that? Bowles thought these guy had to be priest and choir boys. I want a pit bull in the trenches.
True, but I don't want one that is going to get countless off sides and roughing the passer flags from boneheaded mistakes. Richardson is a physical beast, but he's not a smart player.
