Before today our defensive line was clearly: Leonard DE ------McLendon NT -------- Anderson DE Now do we do we slot in Quinnen as at nose? That would likely help Leonard and Anderson get more pressure, but it would also likely take away from what Quinnen can do to generate pressure up the middle because he no doubt will get double teamed. I imagine then our nickel look would be 4 DL like this Leonard DE----Quinnen DT----McLendon---NT-----Anderson DE Lots of talent there but no edge guy who can explode off the line to get to the QB. Do we experiment with Luvu with his hand in the dirt? Thoughts on how all this works?
Just search back to the day we drafted leanard Williams. Same issue then and same answers. Oh wait look back to when we drafted Sheldon Richardson also
Too bad they couldn't get Clark. Still great players produce no matter what scheme they're in. With scrubs ya gotta use every excuse in the book for why they're not producing. Let's give Quinnen a chance to show what he can do first.
Sub packages will definitely feature both Williams, Anderson and maybe Copeland. Can’t double both Williams. Anderson and Copeland will also benefit, and blitzing LBs will have some free runs.
No it isn't. Giving up what KC did and then paying him over $20 million per season is flat out insane.
Lol at people comparing this pick to Leonard Williams or any interior defender we’ve taken previously based only on the fact that they play the same position and we are the Jets. Not even remotely comparable prospects
Paying a scrub $14.2 million is insane. Adding a legit top edge rusher when we haven't had one in almost 15 years is not.
It wouldn't surprise me if MacCagnan tries to get a deal done for Clowney. Houston Texans connection. Been seeing it coming for a while now.
We don’t have picks ! Only 5! Clowney is worth more then Clark and we don’t have our most valuable asset anymore, 3rd pick
We will get eagles 2nd rounder for lee we xould get a pass rusher center or cb. And isnt Q a pass rusher too?
I do. I actually think Q is the best interior D Line prospect in the last five drafts or so. Highest PFF grade of any college defender ever. Only one year starting experience and dominated highest level of college competition. High character, 300 lb plus with freak athleticism, varied pass rush repertoire and a film geek. Zero red flags. Rated #1 by most scouts in a stronger defensive draft than 2015. I think he’s a can’t miss prospect with floor good Muhammad Wilkerson/good Sheldon Richardson there production. Ceiling is perennial 1st team All Pro...we’ll see but this pick reminds me of Jamal Adams much more so than Leonard Williams (who could still develop into a better player with Q next to him). We absolutely fucking definitely need to address edge soon, but I cannot complain about this pick. Would’ve flipped if it was Ed Oliver instead (who I think could be great but couldn’t be justified at 3)
It looks fat... and full of nice guys who would be the first to help a player up should they ever knock them down. Not dawgs
Im not excited nor surprised. Still hes a unique player who has a legit chance to be the best player on this team if his college game translates. In fact if his college game translates he could be an all time great & certainly be a real threat to Shady’s playing ability. Id like to see him play the position he was announced as when selected nose.I question his anchor but if hes able to disengage at the 0 or 1..its kris Jenkins all over again. It’d also move mcclendon to a part time role & allow for a solution to getting the 3 dawgs on the field at one time. If this pass rush looks the exact same way it has over the last 5 years & no front 7 player approaches 8 sacks MAC will be gone.
It is when he doesn't even fit our D. He has never played OLB In a 3-4, only DE in a 4-3. You're paying him trusting that he can make the transition, or you're paying him that much money to be a part-time player. That's insane, especially when one factors in trading away draft picks to pay him that much money.
