Not good, Hickey is ok but just not big enough to grind it out in the corners. Unless he turns into Kaspiritis it’s going to hurt them in second round.
The good news with the Isles sweep and the Caps/Canes guaranteed to go at least 6 is a lot of time will have passed before the Isles play again. Hopefully JB can get back into round 2 at some point.
ugh I DETEST the thought of Hickey out there and thats when Boychuk is healthy = no way this guy replaces what we need and LOSE with Johnny being out of the lineup,,,this sux
Hickey will be a 3rd pairing D-man. I am sure Trotz will manage his minutes. Expect both P's to log heavy minutes on D.
yep, as soon as I saw those guys get banged up, I knew they had to win to give them time to heal up..... didnt think Boychuk was hurt that bad. That's a big loss, hopefully it's a safety call.... and next opponent goes a full 7 games before they advance
The Town of Hempstead petitioned the NHL to move the rest of the Islanders playoff games from Barclays Center to the Coliseum, but the NHL rejected the idea.
Joe , I don't doubt that they did this but it would never happen as its all about the money / revenue
Game 6 of Caps- Canes tonight. I would guess if this goes 7(Wed night game) then the earliest the Isles would start Rd 2 would be Friday night. If the Caps close it out tonight I just hope they don't start Rd 2 on Thursday. NFL draft (Jets with the #3 pick) and an Isles playoff game going on at the same time would suck. Wed night, Fri night, Sat night is all good. Just no Isles hockey this Thursday night.
Thankfully this Caps-Canes series is going 7. No Isles hockey on Thursday so now I can give 100% attention to the draft specifically the Jets and what they will do at #3. Hoping the Canes take game 7. I know Carolina is a tough opponent but the Isles get home ice vs the Canes which comes in handy in a long series like games 5 and 7.
Yeah, the Hurricanes are pretty good. It will be tough either way, but I agree, I would want home ice too. The Caps have it tomorrow. We will see if they take advantage of it. Is there a record for longest time off between series? It feels like the Islanders have not played for months!
I don't know but if the Isles don't have the record then they have to be close. It will be what 10 days if they start Friday.
I have to agree, but (1) the Canes have been hot for a while now, and (2) home teams are I think exactly .500 so far in these playoffs, so the home ice advantage has really been nonexistent. It's certainly odd.
HAHA.... I missed the game, but last night my cousin texted me "Night Night Pajama boy..." Ha. While I kinda wanted them to advance just in case the Isles advance too (Bruins are a tougher matchup) this is pretty epic....
https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-playoffs-round-2-schedule/c-280468316 Isles start Friday either in Washington or Brooklyn
