    Well first of all
I must say this: I haven't really watched Quinnen Williams or Josh Allen but I read somewhere that Allen is more of an edge rusher and that the Jets are in need of an edge rusher so, ---as has been the case for the last month---between now and the draft I'm going to continue repeating ad nauseam that any pick besides Josh Allen is stupid. As for Quinnen Williams or Ed Olliver I may be wrong but you can chalk that up to bullshit CMA-type lip service.....

Alright teammates. Five days to go for the first pick. Can't wait. Here is the eternal optimist in me.
If I was to guess at the Jets top secret draft rank order for the first six or seven players, it will be something like this: Williams, Allen, J Taylor, Bosa, Burns, Metcalf, Fant.
Not a bad pool to pick from, even a trade could get us a star. Flip the order any way you see fit. It's all good boys
Either we crush offenses inside, or at the edge, or we beef the offense in earnest. How could we possibly not get a stud from this list, personal preference aside?

Without a stud lineup of QBs at the top of the draft, how far would Macc have to trade down from 3 to pick up a 2019 2nd round pick?

In years past, if we traded down 2 spots we could reap a windfall. But this year, we'd probably have to drop 10-12 spots just to recoup a 2nd.

There may be a team desperate enough to trade up for Quinnen or Allen, but that's about it.

So chances are, it will be Macc deciding between Quinnen or Allen, which makes it an easy pick.

    Quinnen.

    You know it's coming.

No question. If they don’t pick Allen it will come back to bite them.

    You could be right.

Which would indicate a revamping of the DL. And still leave the Jets with a back-up starting at OLB.

    I hope you’re wrong.

I watched Allen play and take over the Citrus Bowl. THAT is what this Jets defense needs more than anything. I don’t know how they can pass him up ......but they can.

You're assuming an edge rusher like Allen will dominate, rack up dbl digit sacks, and take over games.

Your's also assuming an interior lineman like Quinnen will get lost in the shuffle.

Whichever player is chosen, the question is "Which player will have the biggest impact (overall) on our defense?

While Allen would certainly win the highlight real with his one dramatic sack every other game or so, Quinnen could possibly change the flow of the game with constant pressure in the face of the QB while also helping to shut down the interior run game.

Denying a QB of a clean pocket to step up into is the huge. How many times have you seen Brady (or any QB) take one step forward and completely avoid the outside pass rush? It's painful to watch.

And edge pressure works best when combined with a great backfield. Think 'coverage sacks' where our DBs force the QB to hold the ball and extra second, allowing the edge pressure to come back for the sack. Well, we don't have a strong backfield. Our edge rushers will have to 'get there' on their first attempt in less than 2 seconds. And having a clean pocket to step up into will virtually negate even the best edge rushers.

(For example, the Jets' patchwork O-Line shut out Von Miller, perhaps the best edge guy playing)

Plus, even the best edge guys are 'long and 3rd down' specialist. When running the ball on 1st and 2nd downs, teams run straight at the edge guy and he gets planted.

Quinnen on the other hand will have dramatic pressure/benefit on all 3 snaps. Stuffing any attempt at an interior run for a loss, generating turnovers, batting passes, demanding dbl-teams on almost every pass play, freeing up other ares of our front 7 to make a move (Think Addams blitzing on a pass play were Lenord and Quinnon have 3/4 of the o-line all to themselves

With Quinnwn you get a supper interior defender playing all 50 snaps, stomping the.run, ripping balls out, batting passes, forcing QB's to step back for flee the pocket right into the hands of oru edge guy.

Sounds like hidden production which we have had more then enough of with the fat cat. Also Quinnen has never ripped a ball out in his career. 0 forced turnovers. A big red flag. Allen has 12 forced turnovers

as far as knocking down passes. Quinnen has 1 total pass defended in his career.

Allen has a better QB pressure rate too.

Anderson and Leo will provide pressure up the middle. Josh Allen will compliment that

All this talk about Rex, his defense didn't generate nearly enough pressure especially after the first year. His defense? Outdated with his overload blitzes.

I agree with taking any one of these three!! If we get a "pot of gold" trading back, I would be OK with that also,
    maybe OT J Williams......

Personally I'd prefer Allen or Bosa, but can see the argument of Quinnen. I hope an edge guy grades out well and is sitting there.

Anderson was a nice surprise and I'm glad we kept him. That may be enough to swing our selection to pass rusher. I hope so! We'll see in 4 days.

Allen, because edge rusher is the biggest need we have. Stacking the dline with no pass rushers is pointless. Edge has been a need for like 20 years. It's time for the Jets to draft theirs.

By all accounts, Q. Williams is the BPA, perhaps in the whole draft. Seems to be neck and neck with him and Bosa.

I just can't stomach another interior lineman, especially when the two next best players are edge defenders.

I'm taking Josh Allen or Bosa.

People have cried for YEARS that they have no pass rush and now they don’t want to draft one because of Peter King & Kiper.
