There's a difference between being "the best player" and the "best player for our system." Bosa may be the former, but he isn't the latter, and should not be the Jets' pick imo.

I was just saying it's dumb not to draft Bosa because of his political views. Not talking about whether he's actually the best pick for us.

What a cheap school! So they only care about your staying warm if you're starting/playing in the game. The injured guys can just sit there and freeze. Got it.

Because we love our interior non-pass rusher guys. Also we let "draft experts" tell us that this player is the best even though they play a position that doesn't provide a ton of value. We have made it rain defensive linemen in the first round with Dewayne Robertson, Brian Thomas, Mo, Couples, Richardson, Williams and we have very little to show for it. Lets just hope they trade down and get players that will actually help the team.

I don't know.......something's up. We all know Mac selects the BPA with these early first round picks. I just can't see him taking Oliver at # 3. There has to be a trade down deal in place OR it's all a smoke screen........assuming Allen is still there at # 3 ( a position of great need ) why would he pivot and take a DT ?

You may be correct, but unless the Jets already have a trade down deal in place, it's stupid to let it leak that they're gonna take Oliver. Even then, why do it? Keep other teams guessing. Hopefully this is all BS

am I the only one who would be upset if we took a DT with our 1st pick?

No, this board is enlightened and for the most part agrees with you.

At # 3 I wouldn't be thrilled. The Jets have been in need of a #1 EDGE guy for 13 years now. I can't understand why Mac would pass on that. Which leads me to believe it has to be a smoke screen OR he really likes Oliver and has a trade down in place. I suppose Oliver wouldn't be a bad choice if taken around the #6 - #10 area. But taking Oliver leaves other questions .......what about Leo Williams and his role? Is he on the trade block ? What about EDGE? Is there a deal for Clark in place or close to being in place ?

I really believe (or probably more hope) that this is one of three scenarios:

    1) Jets fear Raiders will jump them for Josh Allen and this is a complete smoke screen to cause pause by the Raiders to move up. I know this time of year is all about rumors, but don't think teams check their sources to confirm/deny what has legs and what doesn't in order to formulate their strategy.

    2) There is an absolute trade down scenario in place depending on what happens at #1 with Murray. More and more people are saying Bosa or Williams will go 1 and Murray slips so depending on what happens there, the Jets have already worked out a trade with someone in the top 12 to move down and have their sites on Oliver in a trade down scenario.

    3) I get a feeling that the Jets don't like Bosa as much as Williams or Allen so if the draft went 1-2 Williams and Allen AND the Jets can't trade down, they would pick Oliver at 3 which to me would be the worst of the 3 scenarios.

If Williams or Allen is on the board at 3, I can't see any logical explanation for not taking one of those 2 guys.

This makes the most sense...all of it. All of these Oliver rumors started within the last 2-3 days. All of a sudden......

Also keep in mind the Raiders want to replace Mack. They have the ammo to jump the Jets for Allen if need be.....

I don't believe the Jets leaked it at all. I believe there are still some people out there performing investigative journalism and they uncovered the Oliver love against the Jets' wishes.

And I don't have to believe the Jets leaked it. Only the people who think its a smokescreen have to believe that the Jets leaked it.

i can't see 1 being real. The raiders won't want to move picks to move up for a non QB. also jumping the jets means going to 2nd overall which they would likely want bosa if that was the case and even if they did want allen the jets could take bosa at 3. Oak is sitting good right now. if you look at the most likely top 4 players (meaning 1 will be there for them) it's murray, bosa, allen, and williams. any of those 4 would be a great pick for the raiders

2 is certainly possible as is 3

you could be right. I'm prepared for Oliver to be the selection at 3 though. This board will meltdown because there are a lot of big brained draft experts here who will tell you its bad value but Oliver is a good player and a top 10 prospect

You're right.....but logically speaking the Jets can trade down - not too far - and still get Oliver and a couple of more picks to boot. I find it funny the Oliver to the Jets rumors started right around the same time these 'not so fast' Murray to the Cards rumors.

i would have a meltdown lol not because oliver is bad value, but because his position. it's one of maybe 3-4 positions i can't imagine taking at 3. we have williams and letting williams walk for oliver makes 0 sense. even if oliver is better it's a very slight upgrade. If oliver is worse we shit the bed with the pick. this draft is too stacked with pass rushers, something the jets have needed since switching to a 3-4 and to pass on one for a 3-4 DE makes no sense.
