Technically Tanny. Although Our drafts under him where highly influenced by Mangini and Rex. It was pretty apparent at the time that Mangini had huge input and probably got his picks.

IIRC rex said he was allowed 1 pick a year (late rounder) so i don't think he had a lot of say in things

He absolutely got Couples. The Jets brass wanted to take Ingram. Rex got a woody when he worked out Couples and Woody prevailed.

The right pick was Chandler Jones who the Pats took who is one of the top 3 pass rushers in the league.

The only bust of the three sitting where we picked was of course Couples who Rex and Pettine loved.

i looked around and couldn't find that at all. doens't seem like ingram was ever a thought or jones. The rumor was we wanted Bruce Irvin (who went before we could pick) but acording to the jets their 2 highest rated players avilable when we picked were stephen hill and coples (and they considered taking hill in the 1st round and thought he had calvin johnson potential) but the wound up with coples (maybe rex had a little input there?) and were able to trade up for hill and get him in the early 2nd anyway so they got their guys. sadly both turned out to be huge busts. lots of players from that draft were funnily enough traded this off season. zietler and vernon were traded for each other (zieter was a 1st rounder, vernon a 3rd rounder) Osemele (traded traded for him) was a 2nd rounder that draft. Trumaine Johnson was also drafted in the 3rd round. That was an odd class so much depth. the 1st round was meh but so many pro bowlers from the 3rd-5th rounders including 3 QBs

    3rd round
Olivier Vernon, Russel WIlson, Brandon Brooks, Nick Foles, Akiem Hicks, TY Hilton

    4th round
Lamaar Miller, Kirk Cousins, Mike Daniels

    5th round
    Malik Jackson, Josh Norman

Jets had 1 pick there (we had a 1st coples, 2nd hill, 3rd demario davis, and a bunch of 6th and 7th rounders) only player we got form that draft worth a dam was davis

Cox, Kuechley, Luck, Jones, Ingram and a bunch of the 1st rounders are still in the league and starting. That's a pretty good 1st round.

The fact that Stephen Hill was on our board in the first round tells you everything you need to know. Tannenbaum drafted Coples because Rex and Pettine scouted him, went to his pro-day and wanted him.

yeah there were a few studs for sure but also some really high busts like richardson and blackmon both taken top 5 and both being massive busts. RG3 is technically a probowler but he was a bust as well

anyway just becuase they went to his pro day doens't mean they had a say in it or made the pick. only time i heard rex say he had a say in it was when we drafted john connor. he said that MT allows him 1 pick each draft and he was scouting a LBer and connor was showing up blocking everyone when he was looking at the LBer so he deiced he wanted connor.

He didn't just go to his pro day. He personally worked him out at his pro day. He pulled the same deal with Sanchez. He went out to work him out was hot over him and now he's saying he never thought Mark would be a franchise QB. WTF Rex. He was drooling over him.

LMAO his tattoo says otherwise about sanchez. rex was a good TC but a bad talent evaluator and bad HC. being a good DC is his coaching ceiling

At least he didn't get the tattoo on his ass like Gastineau did with Bridgett Neilson. I think the relationship was over before he got out of the ta
I forgot about the tattoo. Hysterical.

In fairness to Rex, the Jets didn't have a great GM to make the final calls on talent. Tannenbaum is a very smart guy but he is hardly a guy who came up in the ranks of coaching and talent. He's basically a contracts lawyer.
Parcells was a much better coach than he was a GM. He's best teams were the result of having George Young pick the groceries.

I had a dream last night that The Jets traded back to 15 with the Redskins, grabbing a 1st rounder next year among other things, and then on draft day there was a picture of Bosa smoking a giant joint released on Twitter so he fell to 15. The Jets gettting their cake and eating it too.

May my dream please come true
