Yes? *pray* He isn’t gonna have to worry about being offered an insulting hometown discount if this is how he’s gonna pitch. They ain’t gonna want him back. It’s still earlier though. Just hope his pitching doesn’t improve when it doesn’t matter.
The Mets this year are an interesting team so far. It's almost the opposite of last year. Last year was no hitting, but good pitching. This year is good hitting, but pitching is holding them back. If the pitching staff can start playing up to snuff, they could make some noise.
Jake having lots of trouble tonight. 46 pitches through two innings, giving up a run. This might be the quality start streak-breaking game.
DeGrom was going to have a bad game eventually so ok, but this pitching is a mess though. 9 runs- 8 runs should be winning you games.
Alonso with 15 RBI in the first 11 games of his MLB career. I'll take that pace for the rest of the year!
As usual Callaway leaves a pitcher in too long, and then Familia comes in and pours gasoline on the fire. I haven't hated a Met player as much as Familia since Vince Coleman.
I know it's early but the Mets are currently ranked #8 in runs in all of MLB. Pretty good considering last year they ranked 23rd. Alonzo has been kicking ass, I hope the trend continues and they can fix their pitching woes. Keuchel really needs to be signed asap. Yeah he's had a hard fall from grace after that 1 good year. I guess that year was a fluke.
I would have to think that it's more likely that Keuchel would sign with the Yankees than with the Mets. The Mets aren't giving him the $17 million he still claims to want to be the #5 starter, and they clearly still believe in Wheeler and Matz.
Even in the 51 save year he wasn't particularly good. His WHIP was 1.210 and his ERA was 2.55, which are not good numbers for a closer. He had a good year in 2015, the year before the 51 save year, when he had 43 saves, a 1.88 ERA, and a 1.000 WHIP, and was being paid $523,925. Since then he's made $26 million to achieve a 3.11 ERA and 1.255 WHIP. Overpaid underachievement at its finest.
What a weird game. I don’t i’ve Ever seen anything like what happened in the 5th inning. You feel like the Mets have to score like 10 runs a game to win and even still worry about it being a nail biter. In theory the pitching shouldn’t be this bad.
Good outing by Matz tonight. Seems like he’s getting his good stuff back. Let’s hope that he stays on track and off the DL.
