I really like Darnold and I have high hopes like everyone else but his demeanor certainly doesn't scream vocal leader. He seems very shy in public, although i suspect he has confidence in himself, he just doesn't show it. I wish Darnold had a little baker in him, I can't really remember a QB who won a superbowl that didn't have good leadership qualities. Maybe Nick Foles but there's an asterisks there as Carson Wentz was largely responsible for that season. I don't think it's a big deal and maybe he will gain more confidence with more wins. Would love to see a fist pump every now and then though.
Still doesn't' sound like retard. Was a peasant name...was. All our names are peasant names. Unless you're a long term politician or banker
Wrong..those names flow. They're sellable names that people relate to.( There's always more then one factor). There' No positive argument for Darnold lol. No one knows anyone named Darnold. Darnold looks like howdy Doody.. Aaron Rodgers is good looking, has many commercials. The only time you'll see Darnold in a commercial is if he's with other players in it. He won't' be a national spokesman on a superstar level. Darnold is up there with Browning Nagle lol
lol and what would that have to do with this? my last name has absolutely nothing to do with that observation. i'm not some jock trying to sell his soul for fame. And by the way, just like Hollywood, some of these guys arent even using their real names.
I wanted Allen because I never figured Darnold would have been there.. That said, we may all be right including a few other QB's and could be looking at 1983 part durr... With a better outcome of course.
This reminds me of the scouts from moneyball.... "He'll never be any good - he's got an ugly girlfriend" Like how far can you reach before you tip over? Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Name me a Texas Tech qb that started and won a super bowl? Heck, that stigma exists for that school too.
Darnold again last night reminded me why I have so much confidence in this new era of Jets football. The kid is all about football and said exactly what he should have during that cringe worthy event.
Sam is the right guy for this franchise, really liked him saying that the unis dont matter if they dont win
Brett Favre is nothing like Tom Brady who is nothing like Ben Roethlisberger who is nothing like Drew Brees who is nothing like Eli Manning who is nothing like his own brother. All have won championships. Making comparisons of personality is pretty pointless, at least when implying there is a correlation to success. As long as he is football smart and dedicated, the rest falls on management and coaching.
"talent and stupid" ?? AHAHAHA Take away Sam D , Drew Brees , Phillip R, Rogers, and a handful of other players out there and you've just defined the NFL
No question. I always contend Deacon Jones is the all time NFL sack leader because he's name is Deacon Jones. This is why Mickey Mantle will always be in the argument for the greatest Yankee and still be considered not as good as Babe Bruth.
You said that the name "Darnold" sounds retarded. I'd like to know what your last name sounds like...it must sound cool as fuck. Also...I'd love to see a list of NFL players that aren't using their real last names.
That's right. And don't forget Richard Todd. R. Todd played way, way better than his name sounds. In retrospect, he would have been even better than Tom Brady if he wasn't saddled with that awful name on the back of his jersey.
Joe Namath is in the HOF because his name is Joe Namath. The Washington Huskies once had a QB named Sonny Sixkiller. He was a bust in pro-football. He was in the cast of the longest yard. He probably should have become a Sheriff in Colorado.
