I was listening to NFL Radio on Sirius XM and Jim Miller and Pat Kirwin were on (who are very good by the way) and they compared Darnold to Tony Romo.

They said he has a similar style where he will always be prone to a mistake or two but plays better when improvising and they think he could have a similar career. I’d take it myself, I just thought it was interesting as that was the 1st time I heard that comparison

i went on record before the draft saying i wanted no part of another usc qb.
i wanted mayfield. the browns got to him first.
    so, hope sam works out.

A whole bunch of us wanted Mayfield and we were drilled on here for even having a second thought over the "midget" I like Sam a lot as well..he will be great now that he's got a Coach

Mayfield ?? I guess John Dorsey figured it out

    First rule of scouting:

Scout the player, not the school. Am I assuming you didn't want Mahomes either?

I agree that being likable is extremely important. I once heard before the 2018 draft that Josh Rosen's college teammates didn't like him and I realized then that he would probably be a bust. Some people thought the Jets should have drafted him over Darnold and I was so relieved when they didn't.

Still to this day the greatest college football game I've ever seen was between Darnold and Saquon during the Rose Bowl. Darnold threw for like 500+ yards and like 4 TD's if i remember correctly. I loved him heading into the Rose Bowl but that performance right there convinced me. When we drafted the kid i felt like we just landed a future SB winning QB and still feel like that after his rookie season; he's a special talent with a genius football mind. I feel we're in good hands building around Sam moving forward I'm truly confident in it.

I'm glad we got Sam. I still think Mayfield will be in drug rehab or mumbling to himself in grandma's basement in a year or two.

Dorsey is starting to look like a guy who loves talent and stupid.

I see him more as a Roethlisberger level ceiling. I think he’s gonna be better than Stafford because Stafford relies too heavily on his cannon. I think Darnold has better physical gifts than Matt Ryan.

His name is Darnold. That's Like saying retard with a different sounding word. Star QBS don't have stupid names. He'll be gone in a year or 2.

Tom Brady is a very normal name. So is Russel Wilson, Aaron Rogers, Steve Young and Philip Rivers. So really do not see the name argument at all.
Would we be better off if his name was Dam Sarnold?

you can say tom flores, except he was the backup , and that was in the 70's on a loaded raiders team.
