    More important.
Why didn't the Jets begin off season workouts today along with the rest of the teams that hired new coaches.
Should be taking advantage of the extra time....

Hey, its cold in the NY/NJ region today... Living in Miami all these years, Coach Gase needs to acclimate himself.

Dealing Lee straight up will not give us a 3rd, probably a 4th at best. But if we re taking an expensive player off the other team, then yeah a 3rd Is doable. I don’t think we should just deal Lee just for the sake because we have enough LBs and he doesn’t fit in. Lee is still cheap and and can provide some solid downs for us.

Heard somewhere Gase wanted 9 straight weeks of the team practicing so he started it a week later.

Thinking about this trade and what you are saying lets examine more if we can.

    A. I think the Jets at this point will take anything for Lee. With the steriod suspension and I think other things they are ready to move on and to get anything for him will be good. Yes he could help but I think everyone would benefit from a fresh start.

    B. Let the Jets get creative with this. There are rumors that the Bucs are looking to move up in the draft. McCoy didn't show up for voluntary camp today. Maybe he is unhappy too. Maybe the Jets give up the third pick and Lee for McCoy the 5th pick the Bucs 2nd and a 4th (maybe a third since we're taking on salary). Not sure if it could work or if the Bucs really want to move up to three but I'd do it. Maybe the Bucs take Williams and with the addition of Lee he can replace Kwon Alexander. Just thinking outside the box here.

    C. Take out scenario B and look at it as a straight up deal. The Jets will be taking on salary and they can. Maybe we give Lee and a 5th (don't think we have a 5th so maybe a 4th) for Tampa's 3rd.

I think scenario C is more likely to take place but fun to think about and put out there. I could be wrong but everyone is speculating the Jets will trade down like Murray is going to the Cards. Both teams could be setting up alot of smoke but I think both will happen.

Better tell him to check the schedule he submitted then.....
    April 8 - April 25 is 3 weeks not 9.
Second phase begins on May 21. That just over 3 weeks off

That might have been my error. Rather three weeks in a row. To me that makes sense. Rather than split it get everyone together consecutively install the plan and go from there.

It's still 3 consecutive weeks either way. One just gets things going sooner.
I'm honestly wondering if the new uniform reveal plays a part in the decision to wait . Perhaps the new logos are being installed at the facility. The players new workout gear may have the new logos, backpacks, shirts, etc. and the fear of a photo getting leaked. Otherwise it makes zero sense to waste a week of time installing a new offensive and defensive system.

31 year old and an unproven pick for a young LB and a better unproven pick.

IMO. The faith of Lee resides mostly on one coach and one coach only. Greg Williams. If he sees enough talent and untapped potential with a substantial role in his defensive schemes, particularly on passing formations, he is going nowhere unless we can do better. He is young and not breaking the bank. If Williams is not big on Lee, then the trade for picks and or a player might be an option, but it wont be an old veteran at the end of his career..
After all, Lee has improved every single year under arguably some pretty sad excuse for a DC. He might be a lot better than what we think under the right DC.

The jets have no fifth round pick and the bucs have three fifth round picks. Offer Lee for McCoy and all three 5th round picks. If Tampa Bay wants to dump McCoys salary bad enough, they might bite. If they say no, who cares?

Not opposed. Basically buying three picks with the trade.

apparently there is literally 0 trade market for mccoy so they could just dump him, especially if they wind up landing williams in the draft which seems possible at 5.

Teams know they have to release him, plus restructure someone just to sign their draft class. Probably only getting late round offers and are hoping for more.
