This is just an in general commentary. Syndergaard has a mouth & personality that you don’t mind if the player good. When the player going bad it can get them into trouble.
Yeah, I wonder if Synergaard is going to end up being less than everyone expected. He seems to be a lot more about entitlement than putting in the work. Raging about going to Syracuse before the start of the season? STFU and get on the plane. Professional athletes have always been children, but they now have a lot more power and find it much easier for everyone to listen to whatever crap comes out of their mouths. I wonder how long it will take for them to see that for most of them it doesn’t actually turn out so well.
Definitely, he's a meat head that spends way too much time in the gym - he's eventually going to break down. IMO that's a big problem with MLB players these days, especially pitchers. They need less time in the gym
Hard to believe the Mets actually did the smart thing. Maybe it really is a new day, and Jeff Wilpon will keep his nose out of the business. Of course, this being the Mets, no doubt de Grom will get hurt now.
It would be nice if things go our way and he stays healthy with a on par performance. *knock on wood*
Even though I'm watching on my phone I don't get why SNY isn't airing the press conference live. lol You know for all the complaining about ownership they are susceptible to public pressure. The funny thing is if something goes awry with Jacob everyone gonna be like they should have waited a year. As fans we get emotional but the smart business probably would have been to wait a year.
I actually think this is the smart thing. I believe that for now at least players are looking for security, and get pissed if they think teams don’t appreciate them. With the TV money the Mets can afford it, and sometimes you need to avoid being penny wise and pound foolish. This could also help with future signings of their own free agents-to-be.
Just curious what are everybodys expectations for this year? I'm guessing medicority again with a lot of injuries but I will say they have the potential to surprise and possibly get into the wild card. Most likely mediocrity again, but Im curious as to what others think.
Absolutely none. If Cespedes was around for the entire season, fine. I'm all in.. But he isn't going to get one AB this year.
Pathetic baserunning by Nats keeps it at 1-0. deGrom definitely not having a 2018-type first and third innings.
Second time ever that two opposing Opening Day starters have each struck out 10+ hitters (the other time was 1970, Dave McNally (13) versus Sudden Sam McDowell (11)).
deGrom out after 6 shutout innings. Up to the bullpen to keep it a win or turn it into a no decision. Where have we heard that before?
