I'd be interested to see if we could use him as a throw in in a deal to the Giants to trade down, similar to Jabrill Peppers. Actually, if I were the Giants, I'd be looking to make a deal exactly like that. Trade up for your QB, but get a little extra compensation in the form of an improving player who might be a better fit in your system.

Jets get Giants 2 firsts and their second. Giants get 3rd overall pick and Darron Lee.

I'd do it, but doubt the Giants would.

I think it would be a huge mistake to trade Lee. If he has a really good year, I'll take the comp pick and perhaps he will help us win some games.

There is no way the Giants would let us rob them like that, maybe they let Cleveland do it, but the Jets?

I still think we may have a fair amount of cap room next year to again be active in FA so not sure we'd be getting any comp picks if we lose Lee (If I understand correctly how comp picks are rewarded).

Jets will definitely have to roll money over for next year. However, I HOPE this year and next year we get some good players in the draft so we don't have to continue to spend big money on FAs.

we aren't too bad off next year. I looked into it and as of now we should be able to roll over around 15 mil (which has a little wiggle room in case we need to sign for injuries during the season as i don't see us spending a ton on anyone else out there right now) after accounting for signing leo and robbie and the rookies we should be sitting at around 13mil in room + the 15 mil carryover so about 28 mil to spend in free agency next year so we can't make a splash but really our only holes will be C, LT, Edge, and CB2 which we can try to address in the draft this year plus next years picks. I also see a few people we can cut loose as well. like daryl roberts who counts 6 mil in 2020 with 0 dead money. the deal we gave him is basically a 1 year deal with 4.5 mil. Winters is also due 7.5mil in 2020 with no dead money if cut but we are pretty thin at o-line.

I hope by the end of the draft, we will have addressed Edge, C, WR, and CB. I'm not sold on Leggett, so I'd also like to take a TE in the middle rounds, such as Oliver.

;) exactly. This team can really become something or it can flameout in 2 years completely. Its what happened in 2011. No doubt, a bunch of signings ... no good draft picks really to compliment. Jets have better talent at QB now, but it's only a starting point. It's what they do from here, thats what will define the Jets.

our lack of a QB was killer though. if sanchez wasn't so awful we make a SB in one of those years. our defense was stacked and we had a good o-line and run game. we just lacked at QB and WR so couldn't really attack defenses

I still think if they stopped the Steelers run game early in the first qtr, they would've made it to the SB.

we were so close. sanchez was so good in the 2nd half too and we almost made a comeback. He just sucked so bad in the 1st half of that game and the defense was awful too.

I'm happy with the ILB depth. Injuries happen, and if not, Darron will probably find himself on the field in passing situations and maybe various blitz packages. I could imagine them finding ways to use him in 4-3 or 3-3-5 alignments as well.

I am hearing a lot of twitter rumblings about a possible trade with the Browns involving Emmanuel Ogbah and Darron Lee. I can't find any legitimate sources, however. I'll keep digging. That sounds like an interesting proposal if true.

From what I've read, Browns fans are talking as if Lee fits a lot better on their team than Ogbah and seem to really want a deal to happen. They view Ogbah as we view Lee.

Both were drafted the same year, Ogbah was 32nd overall pick. Jets would get a versatile player that can play 4-3 DE or OLB, while Browns would get a speedy linebacker to compliment their strong pass rush. It actually kind of makes sense.
