Bosa. No brainier. I've wanted him for a long time now. We all have. Well most of us have at least. Nick Bosa, C.J Mosley, Leonard Williams and Jamal Adams would become an insane fantastic 4 to build our defense around. Bosa is a guaranteed Home Run.
I will say this. Yes, Bosa looked awesome early on recording 4 sacks (6 tackles behind L.O.S for loss), 1 forced fumble and 1 TD throughout only 3 games; he was possessed and out right dominant after coming off an 8.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss from the year before. But Josh Allen out of the SEC was absolutely disgusting. 88 tackles (21.5 tackles behind the L.O.S for loss),17.0 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and 4 fumble recoveries? Those numbers are sick. Not even Khalil Mack put up those types of pass rushing numbers before coming out. Hands down the Defensive Player of the Year and owned the Nation's #1 pass rushing grade and what's almost as intriguing is his ability to drop off into pass coverage as an OLB. I feel in my mind Bosa is the safe pick and deserving of even the #1 overall pick but my heart and soul is telling me that an athletic freak of nature in Josh Allen, is just too good to pass up. I'm torn.
I think the "smartest guy in the room", Macc, takes Q. Williams, and we Jets fans will have to live to regret it. As to Bosa or Allen, I lean towards Allen because he'd probably be a better fit in the 3-4, but great athletes tend to adjust to continue to be great, so I wouldn't bet against Bosa and would be happy with him too.
Either way I am stoked in this scenario as Minnesota helped prevent us from overpaying for another key position. If we get Bosa or Allen, I bet we will come out of this thanking them again for taking the overpriced player off our hands.
It depends on whether or not you give any credence to the rumors that the Raiders have been shopping Carr. There have been enough rumors for a long enough now to believe there is something there. But, the likelihood of anything happen is slim. Which is why I said "dream scenario" for us.
Williams is probably the best prospect in the draft this year but it would be a SOJ feeling if the Jets took him at 3. Tremendous talent in the same slot that Leo Williams is in and making us all feel like Leo is going to be allowed to walk at the end of the year so no net gain.
If Allen or Bosa is available at 3 and the Jets select Williams, I might join the darkside where our own Cman is.
I heard rumors that they were trying to gauge his market at the combine, but I think any real trade talks ended after getting Antonio Brown. It's silly to add a weapon like that and then have to start over at QB when you already have a serviceable guy.
You 100% take Josh Allen. The Bosa brothers are injury prone. It is a no brainer. Allen can also cover.
I'll try and track it down, I just Googled "Bosa, 49'ers" and the link came up. Again, I still think from all the stuff I am reading that Bosa is still in the lead, it's just narrowed (how much ?) in the last 6-8 weeks. And Tim Kawakami (TA, very well-plugged in) is wondering if Shanahan/Lynch may even trade out of the #2 to get more picks.
I'd run to the podium to select Allen. He's the edge burning versatile 3-4 OLB that we desperately need. A better overall fit for the D.
