IMO I hope they move on from McCown. Paying him $10 million last year was enough. He showed that his talents have eroded. He also may not be a fit for Gase's system. I like the fact that Sam and he had such a close relationship and that he was mentoring Sam. If he's willing to come back on a cheap deal, fine, but I would hate to see the Jets pay him $10 million again. I'd rather stick with Webb or someone else.

 

In terms of experience Siemian. In terms of reputation entering the draft McCarron. In terms of knowing Gase's system, David Fales (although he has hardly played). How is each in terms of arm strength and being able to make all the throws?

Exactly. McCown knows all of his value is in terms of his intangibles, but he also knows that value is substantial right here/right now. He's worth zero on the open market.

So either he retires (probable), or the Jets end up with a wad of unspent cash and decide to overpay McCown for one more year, because of the intangibles, i.e., one constant amidst the turmoil.

But when I say overpay, that means $4M, not $10M.
