Yeah that’s what I too estimated more so in low-mid 20s. Figure we can get 3-5 players

Guess you weren't aware of the contract Pittsburgh offered him in which he turned down.

Hometown kid wanting to come back home to play for his favorite childhood team.

Simple as that. And, the Jets wanted Le'Veon Bell and made sure we got him.

IMO we just got the NFL's best overall running back to pair alongside of an up and coming Franchise QB.

I know he was a Jets fan growing up. But this is the same guy that laughed at us while saying it would take $100 million dollars to play for the Jets. This is the same guy that was shopping the Jets' offer to other teams in the 11th hour to try to get more money. Yeah, its a feel good story that his love of Curtis Martin swayed him to the Jets, and I'm ecstatic that he's here... but I don't believe it for a second.

i hear you on that. bell was trying to maximize his money. can't blame him for that. i'm just saying if us and say the niners both gave the same offer and both are young and bad teams, him being a jet fan could have been the deciding factor. I think we can all agree if someone gave him a better offer though he would have taken it, but doens't mean other teams didn't give him the same offer and he chose the jets.

"Hometown kid"? I thought you were like a big fan of him or something.

The guy was born and raised in OHIO.

How can you possibly keep getting dumber?

Guess you weren't aware he turned that contract down a YEAR ago.

The Steelers were never in the conversation this year.

In what universe is Ohio and Michigan considered hometown NJ/NYC?

Why are you making shit up.

If all offers were the same I think he would have still taken the Jets because of his outside interests and the NY marketplace.

He was a Jets fan growing up, but he grew up in Ohio, not NY/NJ.

If the 49ers gave him the same offer--never in the mix--he still would have taken our offer because of the Cali state income tax.

If a team in Florida or Texas gave him the same offer, he might have taken that because no state income tax.

The childhood fan thing sounds nice but I think it's naive to think that's why he signed here.

We made a massive push to get him, we gave him a big offer and the only offer he received and he signed it.

that's possible as well. it is one of the biggest markets with the most potential for him to earn money and sponsorships off the field

Dude was INJURED after that season.

I won't let you besmirch the reputation of HOF'er Curtis Martin.

When stinkyB makes the Ring of Honor I'll reevaluate my position.

THAT WAS MY WHOLE POINT......... that even great RBs fall apart after the 30 year threshold

O.K i was wrong, thought he was born in NJ. Sue me.

Still doesn't change the fact my team landed one of my favorite talents within the entire league. Deal with it. hahahahahah

    But Curtis didn't fall apart.
He won a rushing crown when over 30, and after getting injured the next season, he retired for personal reasons.
He never had a bad year in his career.

fwiw, I agree with your overall point about RB's after 30, just that Curtis was possibly the worst example to prove that point.

I saw WR1 ,WR3, Slot corner , corner 2, RB, Center, LG, TE 2, back up QB, LB. DE KR, Kicker I count our players that were on the roster last year but free agents holes. No guarantees they would resign.
