I agree. I'll accept that he's gonna become a Jets, but he'd darn well better not be a diva, and he'd better report in shape and be a great teammate and stay healthy. I never wanted him. I agree that it's too much money for a RB, there's his injury history, the likelihood of his acting like a diva, and the fact that the 2020 draft is supposedly gonna be stacked with great RB prospects. With Bell here, there's no way the Jets will draft one of them. Then in 2021 and 2022 just when the Jets are ready to be serious SB challengers, Bell will be done and we won't have an excellent RB.
I still think it's too much, but at least we didn't pay him $17-$20 million per season. I hope there is an out after two years built into the contract as well. I'm gonna root like crazy for him as long as he shows up in shape, plays hard and doesn't act like a diva, but I still think signing him is a mistake. Hopefully, he'll change my mind. With all that said, I am excited to see what Gase can do with him and he should definitely help Sam and make our offense more exciting and productive. I know how much you and others wanted him, so kudos to all of you. I hope he makes us all ecstatic and proud that he's a Jet.
Whoa, slow down there. We don't know that. If the contract is fully guaranteed, and his play drops off a cliff after year two, then we're screwed with a lot of dead money and can't cut him. We also don't know if it's front-loaded or what. Let's wait for all the details before we make statements like that.
Good point, but it depends on whether they like Rosen. If not, they might just have to swallow their arrogance and trade with the Jets. Another factor was Gettleman wasn't their GM in 2015. He was in Carolina.
Neither Beacham nor Winters are going anywhere this year. There's no one to replace either one. By cutting Crowell, they will take a $2 million dead money hit, but save $3 million on the cap. Get it done, Mac!
Lol, keep telling yourself that. He (or his agent) massively miscalculated his worth. He will never make that $14.5 million back.
I have. He'll have no bigger fan as long as he shows up in great shape, plays hard and doesn't hold out for more money next year.
Compare him to other QBs taken in the top 10 the last 5 years. he is the most inaccurate as a rookie of all of them outside of Allen 2018: Mayfield was more accurate. 7% better completion percentage (63.8% vs. 57.7%) Baker mayfield did NOT struggle with accuracy at all. Josh Allen 52% completions, 12 picks 2017: Tribisky was more accurate - 60% completions as a rookie and just 7 ints in 330 attempts. his int rate was half of what darnolds was Patrick Mahomes - 63% completions his one game as a rookie. had arguably the best season a QB has ever had last season. never struggled with accuracy 2016: Goff - 62% completions as arookie. just 7 ints in 477 attempts Wentz - 62.4% completions as a rookie. 14 ints (1 less then darnold) but in 607 attempts. 1 pick per 44 attempts vs. darnold at 1 every 26. 2015: Winston - 58.3% completions, 15 ints in 535 attempts (As bad as darnold) Marriota - 62% competions and 10 picks in 380 attempts 2014: Blake Bortles 58.97% 17 picks So basically, in the last 5 years 3 QBs performed at the same accuracy levels as Darnold: Bortles who is a monumental bust Winston who has been bad/bust Allen who was an unmitigated disaster Everyone else was much more accurate. Also, did say that as of now, Darnold is inaccurate. will he improve? probably. will he become average or better from an accuracy standpoint? that is to be seen, but having an elite pass catching back like Bell will certainly be a monumental help in that area. Yes we all know rookies are prone to struggle early. the ones who struggle with accuracy the way darnold has typically struggle with accuracy moving forward even though the do improve it. there are outliers, and if you go back before the rule changes making it easier to complete passes you can find even more examples... but as of now, it is really hard to argue that Darnold is an accurate passer
what would you prefer to use? Rushing Yards? Sacks? Punting average? He throws alot of incompletions. if you break it down even closer (by distance, by throws off target, factoring in drops) the case gets even worse for him. Its not like he is tebow bad, but he was very inaccurate.
I can’t believe this troll is back digging it deeper. He’s like the Jamal Adams guy that keeps doubling down.
Dont let the facts get in the way of you being a blind homer saying completion percentage is not relevant to accuracy is an all-time moronic statement.
I prefer that you just don't say anything at all tbh. Everyone here knows you dont watch any Jet games. You came here when Darnold got hurt, then proceeded to not post while he was playing good football.
