Any free agents still available that would make sense for the Jets (besides Bell/Coleman) now that they lost Barr and Paradis?
That will be expensive. Both 3s and maybe more. Edit: looking at the chart the cost to go to early round 2 would be both 3s and next years 2nd.
It is and Rap just confirmed it you twit. I'll try and explain this in simpler terms. The Jets had Barr accounted for against the cap. They were moving onto new players based on this move. They had been talking to Paradis and made an offer based on the management of the cap in that situation. Barr at random said 'jk'. The Jets went into a scramble, probably tried to revert to a plan that didn't involve Barr on the team, but other players already off the board. They needed to know on Bell to manage the cap, and decide how to proceed with Paradis. This isn't a difficult concept. And this isn't a video game. A player de-committing in process of free agency, completely blows up the detailed plan that was in place. And it's not just a player. It's a major piece we had went after and committed 15M against the cap for. It had no doubt HUGE ramifications. And it's exactly why we have signed precisely nobody today.
You are assuming money was the only factor that Paradis was considering. At this point, I don't think the public knows what he was offered, or what his decision making process came down to.
I stopped reading with "Rap just confirmed it" because you can find other reporters who flat out said we were in touch with Paradis and were leaders in the clubhouse. Good luck with the fan fiction though.
For the right C or RB, I would definitely consider that. Our 3rd rounder is a very high one, so it has value.
I mean wouldn't you rather play for the Panthers? No offense to Sam because obviously I think he's great but they are way closer than us.
Ok. You can stop reading all you want. Stick to this is a video game, and there's no actual planning that goes into this, and a 15M player backing out didn't affect anything the Jets were doing idea. It's simpler. Suits you well.
Pros: New Training Facility, New Stadium, Lots of money, Good Defensive Coach, Young Franchise QB, Management seems to be very patient, if you are moderately successful and work it a bit your name recognition goes up bigtime (Decker, Fitzpatrick, Brandon Marshall) Cons:Losing culture (though it doesnt seem to prevent teams like Buffalo, Oakland and the Cards from signing players) NY/NJ Taxes, Fanbase? New York area itself? I dunno... Not sure why it seems so hard to attract players.
there was report early this morning that it was down to us, and then Paradis's team went back to the Bronco's So either he didn't want to play with us (see Barr, Cousins, or Mosely to an extent) Or if we had nads we said enough of that horseshit, and decided we can pursue other options. We can draft. Stop gap centers will appear both from FA movement and because of draft. I'd like to think we told him go screw himself
The chart said it would be both 3s and a 2 in 2021. Would make more sense to trade back on our 1 and accumulate picks.
Personally I would not rather play for Carolina, but to each their own. This is really the only time players can choose where to live and work, and a lot goes into that decision for some guys. Unless we low balled him, it's hard to blame the Jets brass on it.
But he can be blamed for doing such a terrible job the last four years that nobody wants to play here unless we drastically overpay (see Mosley).
I thought this FA was about helping Sam? You have to have contingency plans ... Barr was a waste of time and Mac should not have pursued him ... should've locked up Paradis first thing yesterday to solidify the center position. Barr might be a rich man's Jenkins, who at best might get us 8 to 10 sacks a year. Jenkins can do that for us. Should've gotten Houston and drafted Josh Allen. Linebackers would've been fine.
Not sure how you are looking at the chart, when you don't know what selection in the 2nd we are even talking. An early 2nd is way different value than a mid 2nd or late 2nd, just like our early 3rd has more value than our late 3rd. it wouldn't make sense to pass on a stud player at 3 to hope for a Center in the 2nd. Trading up puts the team in the drivers seat, should a C they like fall to a value they can deal for.
