Then it has to be between us and someone else or the deal would be announced by now. I still think it's the Raiders.
This is according to PFT. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ "The Jets want Le'Veon Bell. More importantly, they want Le’Veon Bell to make a decision. Connor Hughes of TheAthletic.com reports that the Jets have given Bell a deadline to decide whether he wants to sign, and that they’re not going to wait forever. Of course, even if Bell tells the Jets he’ll sign, Bell can ultimately refuse to sign the contract after the new league begins on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. ET. And the Jets are keenly aware that this can happen, because it already has today, with linebacker Anthony Barr. As recently mentioned, the Jets apparently are the only team actively pursuing Bell. Which gives the Jets the leverage needed to insist that Bell make a decision."
There has to be a third team or else he'd have just announced it by now. Maybe the Ravens are the ones calling HIS bluff, leaking that they are about to move on.
Yeah I agree, but most of these FA contracts for marquee names end up being busts. Better off spending the money locking in OL assets. And if the Jets are the only bid on the market that hits his desired level but he doesnt want to play here? Screw it...
It is possible that there never was a market and the salary is not near what he wanted so is not willing to commit yet. If true and the jets go away, I doubt the market gets better for him. Or maybe seeing the other deals he has over priced himself. Regardless the wait on paradis and bell is painful.
I will be surprised if Bell signs with the Jets at this point. I never got the impression he wanted to sign here, and would only do so if he was grossly overpaid to do it...
God, there is a big part of me that says Bell is not going to be the big savior we all think we will get. I'm rethinking the choice. I want an all out effort on the C position, and let the RB selection float. The competition is moving away from Bell.
gonna need an all-pro OL at every position if you want Coleman to find success on first and second down.
Agreed, Coleman isn't a workhorse. If you get Coleman you'll need someone like Jordan Howard to complement him.
Curtis Martin wasn't and neither was Tomlinson even if it was short lived..RBs are more likely to continue playing well then other positions.
Curtis was one of my all-time favorite Jets. LT2 was great too, but that run of him, Thomas Jones, Chris Johnson etc probably prevented the Jets from drafting and developing a young RB themselves. They are always middle of the road in that position and I have a suspicion that Bell wont quite live up to his contract.
Aware. But look at his yards after contact. Abysmal. He needs space to run and unless we get Paradis I'm not sure one new OL is going to make the kind of difference we need if we're settling for Coleman.
