Positional salaries rise, often markedly, every year. It wasn't too long ago that the center position wasn't viewed as all that important. Now it is. Broken legs are nothing. I totally disagree with you that if we choose not to sign Bell it means that lost sight of the big goal.

IMO the only way that we have lost sight of the goal is if we fail to sign a quality C. We need to finalize a deal with Paradis or move on to Wisniewski before we miss out on him as well.

I don't think so either. @EnunwaFan hit it on the head. The only issue will be if we draft really badly.

Also, he can come in for Moseley on 3rd downs and passing downs. I certainly wouldn't cut him. If someone offers the Jets a good draft pick in return, then yeah jump on it, but otherwise, keep him around.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Pace was NEVER seen as the pass rusher that Barr was. Pace played at Wake Forest. I saw him play and read regular reports on him. I laughed when the Cardinals took him so high because I knew he'd never be a top pass rusher.

Obviously, I wouldn't have started a 2nd thread if I had seen this one. I looked and it wasn't visible on my page/screen.

I know we want studs for Sam too, and hopefully that will still happen. But a great D will benefit Sam immensely. Sam won't be forced to put up air balls trying to come back from a 16 pt deficit with 5 mins to play. He can play within himself and still win the game.

Plus starting his drives at our own 40 is tons better than staring in our own endzone every series!

Now go get Sam some DOGGS!!!!

Not so fast, mes amis. I posted the following in another thread:

So they will continue to add cap space as well as the cap getting bigger. Some of the deals may be structured as well so much of the money comes up front or the players can be cut if their play has declined. If worse comes to worse and we wind up losing one by then in FA, it won't be the end of the world, especially if Mac's drafting has improved. We'll have time to upgrade the depth behind these players.

I was gonna say, I often have this issue at Jets Nation forum. The forum doesn't always refresh automatically.

It is not! I had the OP on ignore. The thread did not show. I'm not stupid. I don't intentionally start duplicate threads, especially when I know they'll just get merged. Get real.

And I didn't like any comment at 7:00 am this morning. I didn't get up until after 9:00!!!!!

Also, why so angry over something so small? Are you not happy and excited with all the great Jets news? SMH

    Have a nice day!

Bradbury is rated much higher, But I like Jenkins better, not much but better.

Bradbury is very athletic for the position, but I think his base and power at the point will be a hindrance. I'm also not sure he lasts into the third for us to even have a chance at.

Jenkins, physically, is a better over all build, but his effort runs a bit hot and cold. He can look dominant at times and lost at others.

They both could be starters long term, but I'm not about to confuse them with Mangold who was a stud day one. Outside of LT I think center is the most important position on the line with all they are asked to do, its not a position I want to go cheap on.

He has never been a two down linebacker at the NCAA or NFL level.

He played 84.54% of defensive snaps last year.

He's a 3 down linebacker. Look at his film and look at his skills in pass coverage. Look at his interception of Baker Mayfield clinching the game and a playoff position. this is a good signing for our new defensive coach. Now they need to get a center.

If the best criticism the naysayers of Mac can muster is nothing more than "The contract is too rich", well it simply means he is hitting it out of the park this year. First off the stakes are moving up rapidly and keeping money for a raining day means very little in todays NFL. Plenty of literature on that. Second and most important, one of Mac's biggest strengths is managing the cap. So I have zero worries about that. What I see and a love so far is that he is targeting solid, talented players with leadership qualities and the will to excel. Across the board. This team will be fun to watch on Sunday. While you can not completely convert a team in one year, this is a hell of a good start.
The days of watching our defense be gashed down the center of the field with long runs and short passes is about to change drastically. Comments like CJ is a two down backer make me laugh, and are about as valid as saying Bell is a two down RB. This IMHO is the most exciting start to free agency for us in like ever.
If we shore up the C position, perhaps the RB position and I'm a very happy camper. Add a CB and I will be thrilled. Can't wait for this year training camp to start.
