You definitely have a point. The thing is, we don't have to find a starting RB in the draft. We could sign Coleman or Mark Ingram to start, or even someone like TJ Yeldon who is a good receiver and blocker, and add a HR threat at RB and be just fine at the RB position. We don't have to have the best or deepest RB position in the NFL. Hopefully, we will have a much-improved pass rush this year, and that will make Williamson and Trumaine Johnson less of a liability in coverage over the middle, but adding a LB like Moseley would make our D very stout against the run and give us another leader on D. I can live with either Paradis and Bell or Paradis and Moseley in terms of talent and on-field production. Bell has a lot more concerns than either Paradis or Moselely however. He has a pretty significant injury history, and only has played every game in a season once in his career. He took a year off, so could be out of shape, will definitely be rusty, have to learn our system, and if he brings his diva attitude could be a disruption, particularly if he holds out again after a season or two. His best days will definitely be behind him in two seasons and we might still be stuck with a lot of dead money if we tried to get rid of him. That would not be the case with either Moseley or Paradis. You seem to be completely ignoring these factors. I hope you can find that post. I'd love to see it. Those kinds of things always interest me and are important.
Coleman is a bit one dimensional for sure, but his dimension is something that this team needs. A receiving threat/chunk play RB.
I tend to agree lately. I can’t even fault him for the way he performed in Atlanta, which wasn’t bad but it definitely was not top guy production. That’s not who he is and that’s not the role he should have been in.
Bell, a center, a left tackle, a backup QB, so I never ever have to see McClown take another snap and I'm good

Ya'll are harsh critics. Dude has 1,000 total yards and hovers around double digit TDs the last 3 seasons in a split backfield. He isn't perfect, but damn. We need that production.

Every team needs a Coleman, the problem is every team also needs the complementary piece to him. We don’t have that and unfortunately for a guy like him, he’s going to be looking for more money then teams are willing to spend unless they get desperate. Hopefully we aren’t that desperate team. To me, Coleman is just Powell who got a lot of great opportunities. And I do believe that Powell could be the complementary back on a championship team.
If we could get Howard for our 6th (more likely 4th, and that may not be enough) pick, I'd be all for it. We could get our version of Tevin Coleman in the draft. We definitely need a RB who is a solid rushing RB. IMO receiving is less important than a RB's ability as a rusher. That may be obvious, but I've seen a lot of posts from posters that seem to indicate that at least some guys put more emphasis on the RB being a better receiver than rusher.
I don't see why Crowell can't be that complimentary piece. He isn't great either, but as a runner he isn't bad as a compliment to Coleman.
He may be holding up our progress or ability to add other players at other positions. I'd give him a hard deadline and if he doesn't agree to terms by then, move on.

I was happy when we signed Crowell last offseason, but he disappointed imo. I'd rather move on from him after the draft if we draft a RB.
I rather "cut our losses" with Crowell. Wasn't that big of a fan last year this time to begin with. Much rather have a drafted RB in a deep class.
I wouldn't give him that long. I'd give him until noon, four o'clock at the latest today to commit. Dicking around with Bell, we might lose out on Paradis and a CB or two we might be looking to sign. With his diva attitude, Bell could wind up screwing us in the end anyway. The whole thing with Adams may have been just to further entice the Jets to shell out big money, which he could use in negotiations with other teams.
We may end up with a very Rex like roster where it's quite top heavy with high paid players but lacking in depth to balance the cap. But a bigger concern to me would be pushing out the payments to future years and having a salary cap bill come due. I know the cap grows every year but I would feel much more comfortable not pushing money out to future year caps. I guess we will have to see the structure of these contracts. But, I dont see how we save 9 mill for rookies and can do all these deals, sign 2cbs, a dl, a back up QB without pushing money into future cap years and that is before signing paradis and bell.
