Wasn't Enunwa the 30th player on the roster? If so, adding Barr, Osemele and the new backup slot WR/STs gunner would put us up to 33, wouldn't it?

I believe Williams plays a lot of man, but I am sure he mixes it up too.

I just don't want to see Mac go for a studs and duds roster. If they want Paradis fine, but that really should be the last big name guy we sign.

With our 6 signings by my quick count we are at 54 players under contract. Add in our 6 draft picks and that is 60. Only the first 53 count against the cap.

I do agree that we should be careful. Money is not unlimited. We need to sign Myers, Henderson, 2 cbs and a backup qb.

Spot on. I think it would help the team and Sam more to upgrade depth all over the roster with the money that they'd use on Bell. Coleman or Mark Ingram along with a draft pick and McGuire would be more than adequate at RB, and I think would make the team better than signing Bell and then having to sign a bunch of low-tier players just to fill out the roster. That would keeps us in the rebuild longer. Upgrade the whole team more not just one position. Yes, Bell would be exciting and would help Sam for the next two years, but then he's probably done, just when we are really ready to make some noise in the playoffs. For the same reason, the Jets don't need to sign another big ticket edge rusher and don't really need to draft Bosa or Allen or even Burns in the draft. They still have a lot of holes and positions that need to be upgraded talent and skill-wise, and adding more speed all over the roster won't hurt, either.

Sure we could do that if you wanted to have to sign 10-20 low tier players to fill out the roster. IMO that isn't wise. IMO it's much wiser to spread that money out over the entire roster. Improve starting positions, depth on several units, and increase overall team speed at several positions, not just at RB. We can add a speedy HR threat RB in the draft who also can catch passes, who won't be a diva, and could be entering his prime in a year or two when we're ready to make our run.

I'm not disputing you, but how did you get 54? Are you including the futures contracts guys and the PS guys from last year? If so, I don't expect too many of them (hopefully) to make the roster. All the media reports were that the Jets only had 29 players on the roster before they re-signed Enunwa.

I’d argue that it’s smarter to spread $35 million between a great linebacker and a stud running back instead of two great linebackers if we are talking about building a team but either way… I don’t know why everybody has this idea that you can pluck starting quality running backs from the third round of the draft every year. I’ll have to find the post but I went back like five years to find who was drafted when and where they ended up and it’s not pretty.

I'd be willing to sign Moseley as well as Paradis. I wholeheartedly agree that I don't want studs and duds. I just think that if Sam develops as we think he will, Mac will continue upgrading the OL via FA and the draft (including our LT of the future), we add another big/fast WR, adding Moseley along with Paradis, would make us strong SB contenders in a couple of years if not next year.

Think it's going to be 1 of 2 between Paradis and Bell.

It isn't pretty. You are right. It isn't a slam dunk to draft a RB. That is why you should be in the market for guys like Coleman, Jordan Howard, etc.

I used spoteacs list of players under contract and yes there are about 14 or so that are unlikely to make the roster but their salaries still count against the cap and will be replaced by other players with min salaries. Even taking that 14 out we are at 46 including draft picks and we will fill more in as we sign 2 cbs Anderson, Myers, kick returner, etc.

More and more it seems like Coleman is going to get overpaid by whoever misses out on bail. Hopefully it’s not us, I would much rather invest a mid to late round pick in Jordan Howard.

I would be fine with Howard. Absolutely would do the job on this team. The only thing I don't love about Howard is that he is a bit one dimensional. Not a very good receiver.

So he is Tevin Coleman but from the other dimension? I do agree though, he’s not the perfect fit. There’s only one guy who is...

Sam , I have posted this before and Coleman might be a nice enough guy but NO WAY do I want him ---the guy had every chance to be the guy in Atlanta and he had a good game here or there but he NEVER stepped up----> I say pass on this guy not even debatable for me.

    Cap is over rated.

Weve got enough room to go for anyone we want now.

This offseason is getting top talent on board.

Next season will be filling out the roster and hoping we had a good draft

Is Howard available or on the block ? If so = I would absolutely take this guy if all he cost was a mid round pick
