Exactly. That is why people shouldn't be worried about the money being thrown around. There is no cap hell...yet lol

We are sitting here with two pro bowl linebackers already committed to sign, a massive upgrade on the offensive line and also grabbed the best slot WR on the market, yet we are still in play for Paradis and Bell.

Does everyone see now why it was foolish and absurd to pretend like you couldn’t sign Bell and fill out the roster with great players at the same time?

No. I still don't think they should sign him.

Would rather they sign Paradis and then fill out the roster. Get CB Bryce Callahan, resign Myers and Anderson. Get some depth on the OLine and Dline. The way the offense is set up, having Bell for a year or two would be nice, but it isn't vital to winning.

I appreciate you and your desire to help Sam, but the Jets are doing that with each signing even if it is on the defensive side. A great defense can help a young QB too.

My point is that for months people pretended you couldn’t sign Bell and get difference makers elsewhere because they were so hellbent on having whatever opinion of Bell they had. Facts are, we signed two pro bowlers and can still sign Bell as well as Paradis. It was never an either or.

That is true. I agree and that could change things quickly. Good point. I would like to see what we have left and how many signed players we have. After reviewing the FA agent list I prefer Coleman and Paridis.

Just because it wasn't/isn't a either or situation doesn't mean signing Bell makes sense when they need to fill out the rest of the team.

Everything is going so well right now. I still won't be upset if they sign Bell, but would rather see an effort to adding role players and depth.

I do believe that if they sign Bell and Paradis, it will compromise the depth of the team.

There won't be cap hell either so long as there are no guarantees beyond year 2 with these guys. I highly doubt any of these signings are getting fully guaranteed years 3 or beyond. Even Mosley. The fully guaranteed money will likely be years 1 & 2.

There will be decisions to be made year 3 sure. Contract options to be decided upon. Jamal Adams wanting a big deal, maybe Darnold even, but there will also be outs for any of the underperformers

I don't have the numbers, but we tendered a lot of young exclusive right free agents (or whatever the term is). I think we were in the mid 40's as far as players go when FA started.

Not unreasonable to think with as many FA’s as the Jets have. Still, signing Paradis and Bell would make this the most unbelievable Jets offseason in memory.

Rough math using estimated APY which will be higher than the cap numbers

    Mosley 17
    Barr 15
    Osemele 10
    Crowder 9
    Bellamy 3

    Total: 54

    93-54 = 39

Most likely more than $39 mil to spend but also have to consider Harrison and Roberts resigning which I don’t know the details on.

Signing Paradis would make this unbelievable.

    Then adding Bell?

That would be unbelievable times 10.

That would be like the greatest offseason in the history of baseball.

Over the cap is showing 82 million after the Osemele trade, a 10mil cap hit, so 93 since none of the other contracts were factored there yet.

It would be the greatest offseasons x 10 in baseball years. Signing those 6 players would be like signing 60 players in baseball.

$93 mil was the number heading into free agency after the Q contract and Robby tender. I think after the Robby tender at least.

By the time these contracts are on the last year the Cap will be somewhere around $220million. Also, these players are all 26-27 years old. It isn't like giving a 29 year old a 4-5 year deal with crazy money.

That's the best part of all of this. Anytime good players are brought in here they're right at 30, all of these guys are in there mid 20's and will play out there full contracts if desired. How refreshing!

I don't think we have the money to sign another edge rusher unless none of Paradis, Bell or Moseley are gonna sign here. We still only have around 33 players on the roster. Even with 6 draft picks that's still 14 more players we need to sign. We need our kicker (Myers) back, our returner (Robertson), Anderson, a backup QB who is likely to command $8-$10 million per season (or more), a backup OT, a starting CB, a slot CB, secondary depth, etc.

Good list. I've been a big proponent on signing Callahan, but have read lately that he is more of a zone CB. Does Williams use a lot of zone? If not, Darqueeze Dennard might be a better signing. I read that he is a good fit in either a man or zone D. That would also give Williams more flexibility and enable him to be more creative with coverages and blitzes.

FWIW, Paradis is on Good Morning Football right now. Which means he is in NY. Which means he better be a Jet by this afternoon.
