As of right now we have 1 starting CB on the roster, and he played like a 3rd stringer last season. CB needs to be the biggest priority at this point.
Yeah, a stand up edge Linebacker. That isn’t exactly how the Vikings used him. That’s how the Jets will use him and he is going to be a stud doing it. He has been playing in a 4-3 defense and it had him dropping back way too much into coverage. I read some stat that said he only rushed the passer like 97 times all of last season. He will likely triple that number in a 3-4 defense. The correct defense for his skills/ability. He is built similarly to Willie McGinest. (Chill, I am not saying he is McGinest) he should only drop in coverage 25% of the time this year.
I think that is excessive. If Jets can land some other big fish (Mosley and/or Bell/Coleman), they should perhaps look to the draft for a center. That Bradberry kid could be had if they can trade back. That could work out well.
This is no place to pinch pennies, and the very reason I hoped this would be addressed 1st. If we had a vet QB sure but we don't.
if they are worried about funds (they might not be), I'd let the Denver center go and still focus on Mosley. You can find centers. You can't find a stud like Mosely available often. To have Mosely paired with Barr and Adams, that would be one nasty defense
Not really pinching pennies if they land Barr, Bell, and Mosley. They just can’t sign everyone. I’d rather have Mosley/Bell than Paradis/Bell
they really need a "wins above replacement (WAR)" type stat in the NFL. Mosely's would be high. Even the best center in the league would not be that high
If it's between two of Bell, Mosley, Paradis. I'd probably prefer Mosley/Paradis, and then draft a RB in the 3rd round.
PFF has a wins above replacement stat but I'm unsure it's available to even premium members. Could be that it's still in its infancy. It's very difficult to use data in evaluating players because performance is often interdependent.
Right because I want Darnold injured....come on man. In my suggested scenario, the jets would put Center at the top of the draft needs list. There is a good Center draft class this year.
