Well for starters, we have a QB. Secondly, the Jets are terrible. The Saints traded a 3rd for Bridgewater last year because they knew they were a Superbowl contender. That made sense. The Jets signing Nick Foles makes no sense.
More likely scenario is Davis Webb is the backup QB. They will probably bring someone else in to compete with Webb, but it will not be for much $$$
They paid McLoser $10 milion to backup last year who went 0-3 when he was called upon. I'd be willing to go as high $12 million for Foles.
Wow. After reading a few things don't be surprised if Bell goes to the Raiders or Ravens (had that feeling for awhile), Coleman does not sign with the Jets and the Jets push to trade for Jordan Howard. I'm not surprised we'd look into Howard but that's rumblings I'm hearing now. Matt Miller of Stick to Football also reported he thinks we sign Morse and Mosley. 1 hour until legal tampering. Crazy time. Hopefully everyone is enjoying football's version of New Years.
If he doesn't get offered a starting gig he'll be signing somewhere to backup. It might as well be here. Good football teams have quality depth and who knows if a starting QB goes down in training camp ...
that would be a bold move. I would think they are going to bring in a veteran. IF they are content though with Davis Webb, that means Webb must have impressed in practice
I think they will bring in a vet too. My guess is that their will be a competition and Webb will be the other guy.
Really hope they can get an upgrade at C, so likely Paradis or Morse. With that the OL would look alright and much better if they then invest a couple of draft picks there. I'm getting curious to see what they do at ILB. If they sign Alexander or Mosley does that mean they trade Darron Lee or do they think he can play some OLB in a 3-4? I hope/expect them to come out of the next couple days with some sort of pass-rusher. I'm intrigued by Barr. And I'm forgetting that outside of Trumaine Johnson, they pretty much have nobody at CB. They need a starter opposite him and then a slot guy so I do think they'll get both this week. I wonder if it'll be Mo resigned or someone else though. And I wonder how highly they think of Derrick Jones. My guess is he'll be their 4th corner for now though maybe he can climb the depth chart in the future if he continues developing. Just saw Manish report the Jets think Tevin Coleman is overrated. Honestly, if they feel that way and then miss out on Bell, I'm not opposed to their just focusing on one of their 3rd round picks for an RB rather than overpay for some mediocre talent. The OL just got huge boost with Osemele and quite possibly will get another with Morse or Paradis. But they need more playmakers so they'd then to get a legit slot WR. Wish it was a better WR market.
if the jets are serious about these FA linebackers me thinks that's great news. Reinforces the 3-4 idea with DC williams. IF we do in fact sign mosely/barr/alexander we instantly have LB strength. Pairing that with our safeties and u have a very good back 8.....aside from a real shut down corner. That leaves the DL and if the jets do select either bosa or allen at 3 - these guys can certainly be used interchangeably on the edge within the 3-4 and 4-3. getting ahead of ourselves but we may finally have a real real good D after many years of faking it.
looking a bit closer - if i was the jets GM the ONLY player i would break the bank for is mosely. he is that good and the ripple effect he would have on other players would be well worth it. thats for the D.....you just about always have to break the bank for OL.
I hate to agree with Manish but he is right Coleman is an older slightly better version of McGuire. A very effective pass catcher but inefficient runner. I would rather have mcguire.
I'm warming up to giving Mosley a big payday. It would give us a really good handle on the middle of the field with him and Adams, where the Pats spend most of their time.
