Nah, if he can’t draft the whole thing will come apart in 2 years . He’s closing in on Tanny level though.
Tanny (with an undetermined amount of help from Mangini) built arguably the strongest roster in football from 2008-2010. We were a healthy Favre and a better Sanchez away from winning up to 3 Super Bowls. If Mac doesn't turn things around, comparing him to Tanny is an insult to Tanny.
Yeah never even seen you on these board and here you are Mr. Knowitall. You probably thought he was the Blind Side dude.
In the 'modern NFL', guards are becoming as important as tackles with defenses focusing on pressure up the middle to push the QB off his mark and preventing him from stepping up to avoid the outside pass rush. In years past the guys in the middle were fat slobs who job it is to clog the middle. Today's interior D-Lineman are pass rushers. The Jets under Rex tried for a good D-Line up the middle with Richardson and then Williams (Macc). Also, the best player in the draft (can't remember his name) is an interior D-Lineman who will be lining up over a guard. Some guards are being paid as much as left tackles, so this is great move.
He seems to always make these underrated trades every year. Been good in the first round each year. Starting to find a few late rounders. He's gotten better, I used to bash him but the last yr and this year, I've seen improvement. If he does well this off-season, I think I might put him right there with early Tanny. I would have to give him credit then. I am hoping having Gase here further improves Mac's selections.
yea no. Ive been here a while dude. Im not Mr knowitall but I can tell a bullshit post when I read one. Its no big deal
Injuries unfortunately happen within the NFL but when healthy, Osemele has proven to be one of the games most dominant interior offensive lineman. Yes, Mike as a GM does deserve criticism for his failures of addressing our O-Line thus far but he does deserve credit for pulling off this trade ala an extremely low risk and should be high reward situation moving forward.
So are you suggesting that if I said I was a big fan of Demetrius Rhaney drafted in the 7th round in 2014 out of Tennessee State you’d say I was bullshitting? Because you’d be right. I just looked up 7th round draft picks in 2014 to find the most obscure name. Unless you went to Iowa State or are related you likely have no idea who this Osemele dude is.
Also there isn't that good a FA crop of OG. This is the perfect low risk high reward. Definitely a good move. One less position to worry about come FA & Draft day.
I believe the Jets now have their # 3 pick, the two third rounders ( theirs and the Saints ), their fourth rounder, the sixth rounder, (originally from the Bears ), and their seventh rounder. Still 6 total...
Good move - and I’m sure Mac is reworking the contract to the Jets benefit of course... Obviously Saffold is out of the picture now
If KO was on the open market he would be the best G available, and likely cost more on that deal. You would have to be crazy to not be pumped about this trade.
And even if the Jets were able to sign him, it probably would have been quite a few million more than what they'll actually have to pay him if they just pay him what his contract calls for now. Mac may actually be able to rework the contract and get his price cheaper.
