New or young Jets fans, but not older ones. The Jets have usually had good centers in their history. Joe Fields, Jim Sweeney and then Mawae and Mangold.

What a complete waste of money. None are game changers.

I think they probably just become front runners, which blows. But as long as we offer Bell the most competitive offer within reason, I can’t be mad. It’s only choosing to go after third tier guys INSTEAD of Bell that will piss me off.

FA officially begins this Thursday at 4pm. Are the Jets and Mac going to swing and miss? This is Mac's most important test as GM to date.

Let's see what happens. With Mac's track record it's hard to be too hopeful.

I have a bad feeling were going to overpay for mid level talent....it doesn't seem like the bigger name guys want to come here. I don't know if it's the market or just the culture surrounding the team, but it's been years since we have attracted bigger names. Cap space isn't like it used to be.....it's coming down to where players want to be. I will be impressed if we can get any of the bigger names (Bell, Coleman, Saffold, Barr, Paradis, Morse etc.)

Hopefully, Gase and Williams are advising Mac and telling him that they'll kick his ass if he blows this FA and/or the draft.

So true! They should just rename the "tampering period" to the "done in principal period", the deals are getting done and just becoming offical on the start of the league year. At least for the cream of the crop.....

Have to do the due diligence. Hopefully, they have Gase and the RBs coach pitch in as well and provide exactly how they will use Bell. Raiders are a threat, but I won't consider them the front-runners just yet.

My fear is that we'll give Fowler big money. And considering where we've been since 2010, it's not shocking that top FA's don't want to play for us.

This all may be correct but Tannehill does not have Darnold’s talent . Not even close . Of course Tannehill wouldn’t see it that way and I wouldn’t expect him to but I can’t see him beating Darnold out for the starting job under any circumstances . I also don’t see Darnold considering him much of a threat to do so.

But that being said I can see Tannehill stepping in for a couple of games and the Jets being ok. Which is what you want out of your back up ...

We all fear the same thing. It seems every FA period when we expect the Jets to be active - they disappoint .

But every year can be different ....And the one thing the Jets have going for them this year is the new young franchise QB. This can be a game changer in wooing potential FAs...

As far as overpaying the Jets will always have to over pay for tax implications . Take Trey Flowers for instance . Rumor has it both the Jets and Dolphins are interested . Florida has no state tax. So the Jets are going to have to beat Miami’s offer by quite a bit for that reason alone.

But at least this year they are able to if need be.

According to Manish we were interested in trading for him. He’s a good blocking TE, would love to try and lock him up before Wednesday.

Reading this today makes me laugh. Everyone feels the same way I do.

Last week optimistic we’re going to get everyone.

Night before free agency. We’re lucky if we get anyone. I think it’ll be in the middle.

I think we pivot at 12:01 to tevin Coleman once Le’Veon bell says no and goes to Oakland. I think we get paradis because we overpay him. We get Dante Fowler because we are the only serious bidder. Trey Flowers pulls a Dante Hightower. Considers our offer but takes less to go back to the patriots or a little less to go to the dolphins. We’ll sign one of the following. Humphries Beasley crowder amendola. Then after that a bunch of second wave corners and linebackers and offensive and defensive linemen. And we’ll be excited about some and not about others.

I’m ok signing him. My question is isn’t he the same type of player as Tomlinson who we let free and Tomlinson is younger. Having either is fine. Nice complimentary pieces. Neither moves the needle but they help
