https://bleacherreport.com/articles...enum-move-being-discussed-by-broncos-redskins Deal is done; Broncos get Skins 6TH in 2020 Washington gets a 7th in 2020 & Keenum, supposedly with adjusted contract
good move for both. denver saves the cap room that they used to overpay keenum and washington gets a decent QB in case alex smith can't go
Smart move. Almost certainly a better stopgap than...Colt McCoy (we'll see if Flacco ends up being any better than Keenum). Do we have any idea what Alex Smith's prognosis is for 2020 and beyond? I'm assuming he's definitely going to miss 2019.
It's pretty unlikely Smith will ever play again. Spiral fracture of the Tibia and Fibia, then complications (infection)after the initial surgery required more surgery . Washington is on the hook for the majority of his contract , so they won't release him as that would accelerate the cap hit.
Broncos will get a sixth-round pick in 2020 and pay half of Keenum's salary in addition to a $500,000 bonus, which comes out to $4 million in total. The Redskins will get Keenum for $3.5 million and a seventh-round pick in 2020. Broncos end up with $7 million in dead cap for Keenum
I like this move for the Redskins. Keenum is not great, but he is a pretty good bridge QB. Then you draft a QB in Rounds 1-2, and groom him behind Keenum for the 2019 season. I think this shows Smith is definitely out for 2019 and possibly beyond. Also, this almost feels like a Kirk Cousins for Case Keenum swap. Who would have thought that a year ago?
If only they had remembered last time Andy Reid burned them with a QB trade. Although that isn't quite fair as they were 6-2 with Alex before his freak injury, although he wasn't playing that well. Redskins are a bit of a mess right now. Decent talent on team, decent coach, but they need a QB, but everyone is on the hot seat so they are still going to try to win.
that's what i'm thinking as well. I can't see him playing in 2019 (and i don't think wash does either hence the trade) which means he'll be 2 years out of football, coming of a major injury, and 35 by the time he's ready to play again and since he already has like 74 mil guaranteed from his contract i cna't see it worth it to even try
If Smith hadn't got hurt they would've won that division last year. Keenum stinks. Pretty good backup QB at best.
It’s because Keemun got traded for a bag of peanuts. Tannehill would probably command a much higher pick.
Tannehill is a mediocre QB but it's not like the Dolphins have anyone better. If a QB isn't taken in this draft and Tannehill is cut or traded, then it's definitely Suck for Tua.
