Adam Gase on Williams from the Combine this weekend.

Not sure who to believe, our new coach who coached against him for years or some troll.

    https://www.newsday.com/sports/foot...iams-jets-defensive-line-nfl-draft-1.27925886

Gase said Williams will fit well in new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams’ aggressive scheme.

“He was always very challenging for us to go against,” Gase said at the NFL Scouting Combine this week. “We’d always account for him. We’d try to double him. He’s hard to stop. We basically could not run the football because of him.

“He was always very disruptive in our games. We struggled in pass protection against him, he was very disruptive.”

“I never look at the sack numbers,” Gase said. “I’m always going to look at pass disruption. How many hits on the quarterback does he have? How many pressures does he have? Then you throw in the sacks and now your number is going to look the way you want it.

“A lot of times when you have a defensive lineman that’s causing all kinds of pass disruption, you’re going to get interceptions, you’re going to get fumbles, you’re going to get quarterbacks making the wrong decision a lot of the times. I think he does a good job disrupting the quarterback.”

    Tall tales.

I watch the games I don't see Williams creating that kind of sackless mayhem.

What's the Jets agenda pushing this stiff as some kind of difference maker? Sacks don't matter now? Are these people frickin' crazy?

But whatever it is what it is.

He’s a damn good player with a small motivation problem at times (cant fully blame him the way the last few seasons have gone) and a bunch of JAGS around him

Give him Greg Williams and some talent upgrade as teammates and watch him flourish

    We'll see.

At $14.2 million this guy better deliver the goods this upcoming season and I don't mean hidden production garbage.

Offer him to Pittsburgh for Antonio Brown, straight up

    They'd take it!!!

But the Jets don't think like you. They're canonizing this scrub because well they don't look at petty things like sacks.

But maaaaan if the Jets could pull off a scrub-for-HOF caliber WR trade that'd be a stroke of genius.

Idk if Pittsburgh would take it.

There are reports all over the place in terms what Pitt wants for Antonio Brown and obviously Jets fans disagree on Leonard Williams’ value, so who knows how Pittsburgh feels about him.

But damn, yeah that would be a hell of a deal. To get Brown without having to surrender any draft picks. Even crazier, I believe it would save the Jets money as somehow Williams will cost more than Antonio Brown in 2019

Pittsburgh will take whatever they can get for him. The entire league knows there's no way they can bring him back into that locker room after the nasty dumps he's taken on and continues to take on Roethlisberger.

    They'd do it.

But it sounds like the Jets are preparing a spot in their ring of honor for the scrub after his disgusting 2018 season.

    SCHMUCKS!!!

I just read that the Jets have contacted the Steelers about trading for Brown.

No word yet on how serious their interest is.

I like your trade proposal a lot.:)

Are the Giants still the best roster in football?

So your claiming QB hits and pressures don’t matter? Either your a fucking idiot or a troll, I’m guessing a bit of both

    "sackless mayhem".....I like it.

    I agree...to a point.

I don't see him wreaking havoc in the backfield much.

Gase is just blowing sweet smoke up his new boss's ass.

Oh they matter when it's real. I'd still rather have sacks.

I've watched just about every game this guy has played. I don't see all these QB hits and pressures he supposedly gets on opposing QBs. It's a myth.

Last year he had one great game 3 sacks against Denver, he sacked Luck once then the Packers game was one of his best games before he got himself ejected. In the other games he was invisible pretty much.

And I've asked a simple question in the past I still haven't seen a answer.

How exactly is a 'QB pressure or hit on a QB' defined?

    Why?

I'm disappointed. I really thought that Gase & Williams were gonna give this guy a much needed kick in the @ss instead they're buttering him up just as much as Bowles did.

What incentive does this guy have to improve when everyone is telling him how good he is, how the poor guy has to face all these double teams (another myth), making $14.2 million and a rumored extension on the way? He's getting paid like a star and he's getting treated like one despite having done nothing in the NFL.

Life is good. He's got it made already.

Leonard was so highly touted in the draft that it went to his head.

    His big fat head...

So not only do you not watch other NFL games you don't even watch all Jet games?

It's not about a definition But maybe you should educate yourself as to what pressure v sacks mean.

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-the-importance-of-pressure-its-not-all-about-sacks

Here's an interesting article about QB hits.

Looky see who topped the league in 2017.

"Leonard Williams led the league with 21 and is a classic case of someone not getting a lot of sacks (two) but putting good pressure on the quarterback consistently."

    http://nflfootballjournal.blogspot.com/2018/01/stats-you-need-to-knowqb-hits.html

Stop trolling if you aren't going to educate yourself.
