Well according to the chatter coming out of Indy the Jets will be going hard for Coleman at RB, Callahan at CB, Saffold at G, and Flowers and Fowler at EDGE ( would probably only end up with one ). They seem to be lukewarm for Bell and Brown.

Just a week from now we’re gonna know a lot more .....

    Hypothetical:

Jets sign Houston and Flowers, shore up the O-line

Do you draft a WR with the 3rd pick overall? Like a Metcalf (although I'm always hesitant about workout warriors and have not seen any real film of him)

No way in hell do I take Metcalf at 3. I wouldn't even take him if we traded back with the Giants. MAYBE at 15 if the Redskins were a trade partner, but even so there's too much good OL/DL talent available in the teens to take a shot on a WR who couldn't stay healthy and never caught more than 40 balls or broke 650 yards receiving.

Also, there's no way we'd pay both Houston AND Flowers. They will probably both command around $15 mil/year each.

totally hypothetical, just to put in place that we had already gotten the DL squared away.

I'm not really big into taking WRs in the first round at all. Since the (I believe) the 2014 draft with Odell and Mike Evans and co. There really hasnt been an impact round 1 WR, so Id rather spend any 1st rounders on OL/DL personally

They’re gonna sign one EDGE guy in FA. Flowers and Fowler are the leading candidates . If they stay put at #3 they will go defense again . I have a feeling it’ll be between Allen and Williams . If they trade down the pick will be offense .

Now if they do sign two EDGE guys in FA that will probably be a hint that they have a deal in place to move down in the draft. I can’t see the Jets signing two EDGE guys in FA and then drafting another in the first round. If they trade down the OL prospects and even some skill players become more of a reality of being the pick .

I'd much prefer Preston Smith to Fowler. We may be making a mistake by overlooking him.

Not much available for WR’s but I think Adam Humphries would be a nice get for us

I think if we filled some holes, Metcalf could be an option at 7 in a trade down. Sure, his production may look pedestrian, but he only played half a season last year and was well on his way to being Ole Miss's leading receiver...on a team that boasted 2 additional Day 1/2 WR prospects in Brown and Lodge. 39 catches for 646 yards is by no means a bad freshman season and he looked to be following that up with a much better season before injury.

the question i have with this argument is, if the combine never happened, would he even be in discussion for a draft day 1 WR?

He was in the discussion for the top WR in the draft before the combine. Most people (even on this board) had him in the first or early second.

gotcha, i don't really watch too much college football so i honestly don't know what to trust with evals. I dont like when a guy pops up on everyones radar after a good combine

like the 2nd rounder we took years back (Steven Hill? from GA tech) that had VERY mediocre numbers in college but looked the part. Alshon Jeffery was taken with the pick right after and even though hes no star, hes been pretty productive. more-so than Steven whats-his-face

Yeah, I was one of those who fell for the Stephen Hill hype. The difference is that you can see Metcalf is an athlete. He's a smooth runner and catches with his hands. Hill looked like a newborn deer running and couldn't catch the ball unless it hit him in the chest.

This. And I'd take Hollywood over him if we traded back to 15.

if we end up at 7 that mean smost likely 2 QBs would have been selected plus Bosa, Williams, Gary and maybe a tackle.....leaving us Clelin or Sweat.......

    Would thrive under Gase.

Houston: nice player but hasn't played a full season since 2014

Fowler: You play behind Ndamukong Suh and Aarond Donald and you end up with 4 sacks? FOUR?

Tarik Cohen 5' 6" stoning Fowler's 6' 4" 255 lb. punk ass (who tries to save face with a lame shove) [IMG]

My wish list in FAs in order of preference is:

    Erik Flowers, Edge Rusher/OLB
Matt Paradis (Mitch Morse 2nd choice)
Josh Sitton, LG (I don't think Saffold will leave the Rams, especially to play for the Jets)[Quinton Spain 3rd choice]
Bryce Callahan, slot CB (Orlando Scandrick, 2nd choice)
    CJ Moseley, ILB
    Trent Brown, OT
Ronald Darby, CB (other possibilities: Steven Nelson, Darqueze Dennard, Rashaan Melvin, Bradley Roby)
Mark Ingram, RB (Tevin Coleman 2nd choice)
    Jesse James, TE
Golden Tate, WR (Adam Humphries, Tyrell Williams, Jamison Crowder, and Cole Beasley alternates)

I agree with most of these. Sitton is a bit too old I think . Moseley would be great but I think he’ll slip through the cracks as the Jets go after other positions . I prefer Coleman over Ingram. My gut thinks whoever they sign at RB will be paired with a mid round draft choice for a new solid 1/2 punch . I love James ....
