I didn’t burn the books. I rounded up like you’re taught in math although I did blow it with receiving TDs. Used his overall TDs to get the TD/G number hence the inflation. My bad there.

But as the post above says, it’s just as much about what Bell does for the entire offense. That’s the biggest area of impact for me, he opens up a ton and we have guys in place already that can take advantage.

Good thing the Jets have cash and can acquire more then just Bell. They can really fix that interior offensive line with Paradis, another guard, a receiver as well. Next year, go after a new LT. Our new RB coach, the previous OC of the Lions found ways to get the running the ball in the passing game, would be pretty beneficial for Darnold. Bell is a 3rd receiver out there.

Really? The rams who’s rb was useless for 6 weeks and who’s season was saved by cj Anderson for 760k?

That Todd gurley who touched the ball 4 times in the champ game and barely touched the ball in the Super Bowl W the rams not scoring a td and who has arthritic knees?

Thanks for making my point for me.

The guy who put up 1250 yards with 17 TDs and added 60 receptions for another 580 yards and 4 TDs for a team that won 13 games. THAT Todd Gurley.

Not easily replaced. See what happened to the Rams offense in the Super Bowl.

Such an asinine argument. Writing off almost 2,000 yards and 21 TDs for a 13 win team. “Easily replaced”? It really worked out well for them in the Super Bowl didn’t it?

It’s not asinine. It’s what happened.

The point is the rb position is a carousel. Ask the chiefs.

Spending that much on an rb is utterly unnecessary. It’s proven out across the entire league. Hence the market.

The Chiefs lost to the Pats because they got killed in time of possession and their defense was gassed. Guess who could have helped with that.

It’s asinine because Gurley was elite all year, was hurt and came back and put up another 100 yard game in the playoffs before being limited to 14 carries over the next two games because of injury.

Ask the Chargers, Rams, Cowboys, Saints if they regret spending or will regret spending money on RBs.

I bet they do and will when they have cap dedicated to a short shelf life position and zero rings to show for it.

A defense that can actually stop someone.

The Rams are the ONLY team on your list that actually have spent money on a running back. So your question is pointless. We already know the Saints are gonna let one of their running backs walk in free agency, having replaced him with a better, cheaper running back. So if you asked the Saints they would obviously say "No." They don't regret spending money on RBs because they havent.

The Rams just signed Todd Gurley to his large extension LAST summer. At the very least its too early to tell whether it was a good decision or not. Considering he has a jacked up knee already and they have to pay him through 2023, they just might actually regret the deal soon. Actually, it could become an example of a horrible decision, who knows.

The only justification that you would pay Bell big money over any other RB is it would be like signign a top Rb and a #2 Wr as he is so viable in the passing game, defenses would have to allocate resources to cover him as well as any other player on the field.

That’s the best justification, you’re not signing a rb you’re signing a weapon. One that changes the way opposing teams defend against you.
No other free agent does that for you.

Ask the Chiefs, who lost to the Patriots, mostly because they didn't have Hunt. Williams was decent, but their oline is top notch and Williams is no where near as good a blocker as Hunt.

Gurley had tendinitis in his knee. He's much better than Anderson and yeah that was a big part of their demise in the super bowl and struggles late in the season. Great olines can help mask RB deficiencies, but Bell is still the best play maker available and I feel the Jets should at least pursue him.

If the salary demands are too outrageous, they can move on and sign somebody else like Coleman, but they have to try. People talk about QB security blankets, Bell would be that and more for Sam. He'll turn check downs into first downs. Great for Sam's development.

The final four teams had Good to Elite RBs. Gurley, Hunt (before kicking a girl in the stomach), Kamara, and White/Michel. Bell will be an immense help to Darnold's growth and will open up more passing lanes when teams are forced to focus on him.
