I’m not pretending they are bad players. But adding them and we still do not have a player that requires that extra attention that would make sams job easier. The whole reason I want bell is it gives Sam a bit of a crutch while he learns.

I can appreciate that, but I do think Tevin Coleman would be the best RB the Jets have had in years. He is also a fantastic receiver much like Bell.

I would take AB on his expiring contract for a second rounder (but no extension) but not much more than that, and they should definitely sign LB on a reasonable deal.

LB is a difference maker and he would take a lot of pressure off Sam

yet. That's the keyword. The goal is for him to be. If he isn't nothing else matters. So you plan accordingly. You don't spend that kind of money on an aging RB that is going to crush your cap when Sam peaks, hindering us from going over the top.

I completely agree with this. If we sign Tevin and pair him with an Ingram or honestly even keep Crowell (or acquire jordan howard), we are going to be in pretty good shape at RB.

The money needs to go toward OLine and Pass Rush. Sign some WRs for decent money and draft.

That needs to be the plan.

Sign LB on a reasonable deal? There will not be a reasonable deal. Keep dreaming. He will get the checkbook from Houston who also has no income tax. For us to compete with that, we will need to open the vault.

You can sign Bell AND the top OL/DE available.

Here are the teams that I think Bell could end up with in no order:
    -Jets
    -Ravens
    -Texans
    -Colts
    -Bucs
    -Eagles

I guess the idea is that we can add Coleman (or whoever else) and have more cap flexibility to add multiple players at other positions other than OL/DE. CB is a glaring concern. We should be trying to resign Henry Anderson. I think by avoiding Bell, we ultimately will have a better overall team and that will help Sam just as much if not more than Bell could.

I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that the Jets come out of this free agency with close to 10 players. Might be hard to do that with Bell.

He’s not going to crush the cap. He will be cuttable after year 3 most likely after year 4 definitely which would coincide with when Sam is due. In the meantime there are not many other players looking like big money contracts right now. So for 3 years you are putting the best talent available around the franchise hopeful while we groom him through the tough years of learning. I can’t understand why everyone wouldn’t want that.
@PennyandtheJets any other year I would be all in on Coleman, this is just a rare year where there is elite talent at a position of need and cap space available.

I hear you @FJF and you may end up being right in the end, but I just think they are better with Coleman short term/long term. He isn't as good as Bell, but I am confident in Coleman. He would be good enough to win and help Sam develop.

Just a difference of opinion. I can't wait for free agency to begin : )

To me, you get the stars and worry about the rest later. Coleman is above average but he's nowhere near the game-changer Bell is. Sure that means you can put more players on the roster but we're talking maybe 1 impact player at most, and that's if every single chip falls your way. We've already struck out enough for one lifetime, it's time to hit the homer instead of hoping you can score on a triple.

  14. I agree..pass rush & OL in FA..lets get the point of attack sorted out..

But in that event the draft has to be about playmakers to put around Sam. If we cant move down an edge at 3 is fine..

But other than that no god damn random DBs,DL or the like.

It needs to be about weapons.

I understand what you are saying but Le’Veon bell might not even be that guy anymore. Dude could be fat and/or lazy. A year off worries me big time.
It’s not like they can bring him in and work him out to check and see either

Listen, if the guy comes in here and plays his heart out, I'll be his biggest fan.

    I just don't trust him.

I think by the time the draft rolls around dk Metcalf will be a consensus top 5 pick
