In a vacuum yes Antinio Brown would be amazing on the Jets. But he doesn’t come in a vacuum. We’ll have to give up a ton of draft capital, will have to eventually pay him a ton, he’s on the wrong side of 30, has off field issues and is an asshole on the field/locker room, the last thing a 21 year old QB needs. Especially with no alpha males in the locker room to keep him in check, at least on the offensive side of the ball.
Mort was also insinuating that would they offer up a first for him .... Just so y'all know what the cost may potentially be
That's been the price all along. May not get it due to his off field problems, but a second plus a player or another pic is likely. The Steelers won't give him away.
I'm not buying it. The guy is 31 and all bridges are burned it seems. They'll take what they can get for him at this point I say he goes for a third round pick possibly less.
I never heard about him being a problem in the locker room until the past few months. He's not doing himself any favors by not shutting up. I question anything that comes out of Pittsburgh these days just because of how they treated Harrison, Bell and now Brown on their way out the door. I don't doubt that Brown will still produce at a HOF level if he goes to the right spot. I just don't think it'll be here.
If any team gave a 1st for Brown, they deserve to lose. That's just dumb. Especially when you look at the overall picture. Brown and Steelers both know it's over, it's become toxic, and they have to move him at this point. All 31 teams know this. They dont have that leverage anymore, I think it will show, and there is a reason why no instant trades have concluded. Yes, its smart to wait it out and try to maximize that potential value from the Steelers perspective. Can't fault that. No way I see them getting a first or second for him though. I pondered swapping firsts with them though with them also giving us their second and a late round pick. I'd probably go for something like that. Not plausible but I would do it.
A first round pick--while it doesn't work out that way--is expected to be a 10 year starter/contributor. You getting anything out of a 33 or 36 or 38 or...41 year old AB I think not.
He's been a diva but only this year did it really show with the team. Sam doesn't need any of that crap. Can't have him screwing with our WR corps either. Robby Anderson is already a headcase and if he loses time because we get someone better he'll completely lose his mind. Enunwa and Kearse provide positive influences. No reason to sour them. This is a time for positive change. We don't need guys with attitude problems ruining the rebuild.
I would take Brown in a heartbeat for a third rounder...I play with the Steelers in Madden because the Jets are just so bad in the game and the combo with him and Bell is epic lol.You know your team sucks when you cant even compete with them in a video game.
The Jets have officially reached out to the Steelers. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...ntonio-brown-are-raiders-still-the-favorites/
Wouldn’t read too much into this. Mac said he would, he checks into every player that’s available. Doubt we are seriously in the market
The only scenario i want Brown or any veteran WR over 30 via trade is in a trade down package which include other picks. Steelers pick at 20 & i think an amicable package could be made..but the steelers rarely if ever trade up. I dont see it happening. Anything more than a 5th which the steelers would never agree to, hell no.
I’m with you. The payroll deadlines are no secret either. He’s going for a 3rd if NFC team, 2nd if AFC.
I'm sure this has already been posted.. Per Ian Rapoport, the Jets have entered the mix for Steelers WR Antonio Brown. #Jets #Steelers #AntonioBrown
And just like that, Rapoport is reporting that we are out of the Brown sweepstakes. Would have been an absolute no brainer for the right price but I get it. As long as we end up with Bell I’m fine with it.
@AdamSchefter Teams that have spoken to the Steelers about a potential Antonio Brown trade have been told that a deal is expected to be in place by Friday, per league sources.
