I don't think anyone would be dumb enough, but if someone wants to give us a 2nd for him... say bye bye and make a hard push for Tyrell Williams. On the other hand... having Robby and Quincy both under contract for around $6 mil against the cap is quite a luxury.
Didnt the eagles reportedly offer their first for him right before trade deadline? I think hes gone at this tender; For better or worse.
Nope. 4th. I don't think there's a chance in hell a team is gonna pay Robby what he wants AND give up a 2nd in the process.
Hard push for Tyrell Williams we'd be pushing ourselves there. It would have been less 'risky' if we placed a first-round tender, but I don't see anyone willing to give up a 2 for him right now.
More like Randy Moss 0.4 He has the speed and some of the hands, definitely not the strength or the brains.
I thought It was reported as such during the season right before trade deadline.I certainly wouldnt give up a 1st for him..but thats what i thought was reported.Obviously i rejembered wrong. But im sorry for seeking clarification i guess?
He would of gone for a first. I just dont think he's that great really. However hes very good at the stuff he can do. Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
Someone said it on WFAN during that timeframe.Seemed crazy to me..including that the Jets wouldnt accept such an offer.4th seems much more in line. RA would have an up hill battle w any hefty asking price given his inconsistencies & off the field concerns.Do we even know what hes asking for? Deep threats are always in demand no matter how erratic;especially young ones.I could see a contender w a more complete offensive infrastructure burn a 2nd on him to simply take the top off of opposing defenses & a few chunk plays a game.
He's worth a second rounder under certain circumstances. He's way better than Tyrell Williams as well.
I don't like this move, I wish it would've been a 1st round tender. I think he might be gone for a 2nd. Another thing, I don't understand the "football" criticism of Robby. If you want to bash and question his non-talent related antics on and off the field I wouldn't dispute that for an instant. But to deny his talent is dumb, he's certainly a top 5 talent on the Jets roster and all I hear from a lot of fans is how we're void of talent but the same people making this claim say to ship Robby off for pennies on the dollar based on football talent reasons. This is such a contradiction. I also think the critics of Robby's play are way too harsh. Let's account for his seasons in the NFL: - 1st season he was an undrafted rookie with Ryan Fitzpatrick (and his noodle arm) as his QB, with Marshall, Decker, & Q ahead of him on the depth chart - 2nd season he has 37yo Josh McCown as QB, a new OC, and puts together the best season of his career falling just short of 1000 yards - 3rd season he has a rookie QB, a new rookie OC, a failing system around him, and is asked to run only 9 routes while never getting targeted but still somehow amasses 752/6 So is this Robby's fault that he hasn't been able to flourish? Have the Jets set him up for success? Can he only run 9 routes, or is he only asked to run 9 routes? Funny how the minute he was asked to show some diversity to his game and run the full route tree in the last few games of the 2018 season he was actually able to, shocking I know!
I think Robb is going to have a real breakout year. Once he starts to master the route tree, he will be getting open a lot more ala the Green Bay game. The last quarter of the season he started running more slants, come back, etc. When he starts to use all these routes & his speed to his advantage, he will be our #1 receiver in '20. Maybe put on a few lbs won't hurt. Keep Robb & Quincy together for the next few years along with Herndon is a good core of receivers. I am also curious about Burnett. Maybe we can get lucky twice in undrafted wr. He looked pretty good when given the chance to play last year.
Second round tender seems a little risky for me...we're depleted enough as far as receivers go. Giving him away without an heir apparent is not smart considering we have a young QB and little talent at the skill positions. Second rounders are hardly a sure thing...and even if we landed a receiver there, it's unlikely that that receiver would be a large contributor year 1 or 2...and even less likely that they would turn out markedly better than Robby.
