There are 2 other guys in this WR class that fit this same bill. 1.Andy Isabella who of course played for Umass who has ridiculous short area abilily & put up insane numbers.. 2.Olabisi Johnson out of Colorado state.Sneaky good slot receiver w good size(6 FT),good feet for pivot routes & solid hands.
Seriously??? wait- you are serious. no way. you are? Renfrow is not an NFL player. Too slow. way, way two slow. Renfrow is not even a Division 1 talent, he was fortunate to have some amazing burners over the top that took defenders with them. It is disrespectful to compare him to Wayne Chrebet. The only thing they have in common in skin color. Chrebet was way more athletic than Renfrow ever is. Chrebet had to make it all himself, the focus of the defense at Hofstra and he delivered. Julian Edelman was a do-it all Quarterback in the MAC. Amendola and Welker were catching passes all over the field at Texas Tech. Renfrow is the ball boy who went out for little out routes after the 1st round draft picks on the outside took everyone on defense with them. He shouldn't be drafted but if he is, some team just wasted a draft pick. I'm sure young Renfrow is a nice kid, might I suggest pharmacy school or something. He's a hero in rural South Carolina, maybe a book or speaking tour is in line. He could be very successful. Football is not for everyone
yes those guys are legitimate NFL talents. Good post Kurt. Isabella especially has the speed and quickness to succeed in the NFL. He was recruited over (late) at Oklahoma State and ended up at Umass and was the point of focus every game they played the last 3 years and he delivered. He is going to succeed in the NFL. Wait until the SPARQ ratings come out, Isabella will score high, the numbers don't lie on athleticism. (a catch in the national championship game, on the other hand, does lie about athleticism) Johnson, I know a little less about but I will look more into him now that you bring him up. Both those guys though, way better than Renfrow, its crazy
I've been reading a little bit more on Renfrow, and it appears he had a really good senior bowl against top competition. I agree, his athletic ability leaves some to be desired, but the guy is winning his matchups, how?
I have no idea how but I sure hope some other team falls in love with that... preferably another AFC East team. If they waste a draft pick, it is good for us
So given that he is not an NFL player, he probably isn't being projected to be drafted in the 3rd to 5th rounds by anyone. Weird because every draft site I've seen has him going on day 3 and if he tests well at the combine possibly on day 2. Walter had him going rounds 3-5 pre-combine. Not sure who to believe--my own eyes and real draft sites? Or...wait--are you serious?
He's quick, not fast, has incredible hands like Chrebet, runs great routes, has a knack for getting open. I'd hate to have a nice little slot guy getting open and catching everything for Sam. That would suck.
It's funny when folks say comparing him to Chrebet is disrespectful. He did it on probably one of the top 2-3 best teams of the last decade against NFL level defenders. My brother played football for Hofstra. Hofstra football sucks. Comparing anything at Hofstra to Clemson is being disrespectful.
I don't use on-line draft experts to form my opinions about players--I pick my players and I see whether on-line draft experts agree with my assessments or not. Apparently you disagree with my assessment. So who's judgement should I use to confirm whether I MAY be right or not? Your's or Walters Football? I'll go with the experts on this one. Besides, we're all guessing here.
He is not quick OR fast. He is actually faster than he is quick though. His hands are not "incredible" either. He caught the 5 yard out routes thrown at him, sure, but his hands are small and he never made any tough catches just the easy ones. How the hell can you say he runs great routes as well??? He only ran like 2 routes at Clemson. The drag across the middle, and the 5 yard out route, when in both instances the 1st round draft picks they had were all downfield. In the National Football League, he will be required to run more than 2 routes and he will be covered by 1st round draft picks, instead of benefiting from them. again - if you like your white wide receivers so much, Kurt mentioned him, watch Isabella play football a little and you will see the routes and quickness that you speak of. Wishing it onto Renfrow doesn't make it come true
I've been watching Renfrow for 4 years now. I know what he can do and I know what his strengths are. Yeah, he doesn't have great hands. lol.
very odd post. You say you don't use online draft experts and then ask me to refute the opinions of online draft experts, even citing one. If you don't use them, why mention them then??????
Reading comprehension apparently is not a strength for you. Well done. We're all wrong most of the time--I mean other than you Mr 100%. We're all just guessing.
Just to be clear. I have never ever said I am never wrong. Its a bullshit tactic from you to say that. I might not know my asshole from a hole in the ground, this is true. But Hunter Renfrow will have a small, insignificant NFL career, I believe, and you will be proven wrong
I cant speak to Renfrow as a prospect though i will say that the ACC plays alot of zone coverage and if you have WRs that can stretch a Defense verticallly (Clemson clearly does)it does indeed make things easier for the guys working underneath. That said i wouldnt hold running only 2 routes against this guy.College WR routes trees are getting less & less sophisticated. We’re lucky if a guy runs more than 4 routes. Here are the guys i saw running a decent # of different patterns..there arent many. -N’keal Harry -AJ Brown -DK Metcalf -Deebo Samuel -Preston Williams -Hakeem Butler -Kelvin Harmon
Yeah, you cannot knock big game experience and that guy showed up. IDK, you are onto something I think here ... had to go back and watch the Alabama game, dude has some really good body control and just amazing ball skills. Jets could have him work the intermediate, short part of the field. He will never be asked to go vertical, but that's OK in terms of a 5th round pick. That's pretty good value IMO. A receiver like Isabella might go in the 3rd round
