From what I understand, it’s just in case one of the two veterans gets hurt, they can call him up.

I would not give up a first round draft pick for any of the players left to be traded for.

Isles have a chance to build a sustainable winning team with the talent they have and should be able to draft another good player in this years draft.

Menace I hear you BUT I "would" give up a pick as I usually like the established guy as you NEVER know what you are getting in the pick-----there are a few guys left that I would give up the pick for Panarin and Stone----and who knows if Lou is looking at someone that has not even been mentioned yet------regardless in Lou I trust

You would give up a pick for Panarin even though he can walk after the season?

I would try and gage his interest in resigning with us before hand but yes I would have and I think anyone who gets Stone will have to do the same and look what Duchene cost The Blue Jackets. I get the entire rental concept but bottom line is we don't know what next year will bring the Islanders could take a step back or the Goalies could be atrocious or maybe injuries hit ,,,,,,but right now this team is in first place and if they would just add some offense I feel they can go far in the playoffs. As they are constructed now I don't think they get out of the 2nd round, possibly a first round loss depending on who we play. I will root my ass off for them but with limited offense and a terrible power play they don't go far. In a perfect world , what I just wrote is what I would do,,,,,in a more likely scenario ---> I sign Hoffman and I try and acquire a center and roll with that.

Thought I read somewhere the blue jackets are not allowing teams to talk contract extension with Panarin if he’s made available for trade.

Might be ,,,,,,,but I don't think they will trade him ---they will suck for the next 5 years and are all in right now I would be shocked if they trade him. In other news I am reading tweets that the Sharks are going after Nyquist

I guess if they can’t get a goalie they may as well add more scoring.

    2nd and a 3rd for Nyquist...Lou clearly doesn’t want to trade.

That’s a pretty light offer which is revealing of Lou’s approach to the deadline. Either he wasn’t serious about the trade and put in an offer just to see where it went, or he truly isn’t interested in parting with our top prospects. If you won’t trade any of them for Duchene who would you for?

Blue I know we really need a center but I like Stone more than I do Duchenne ,,,its not 3 pm yet and Lou never says a thing so we won't know until after anything happens but I still not only hope but believe Lou will improve this team by 3pm. I just can't see him getting Ladd back and thinking pairing him with Barzal solves our problems . This team is playing so well and nothing is ever guaranteed ---I hope he pulls the trigger

If Lou waits out Stone and can get him for less because the other teams move on, he’s a mutha luvin’ genie-us!

Andrew Gross: Barry Trotz told players before #Isles practice: “Everybody who is here right now deserves the opportunity to stay…I don’t anticipate anything. If this is the group we’re going with, we’re fine with it.”

Stone traded to Vegas for defenseman Erik Brannstrom, forward Oscar Lindberg and a second-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft according to multiple reports.
